Ominous Circle is my fav death metal release of the year so far. It's been an incredible 3 months for the genre.

 

Any other standouts you'd recommend from this year so far?

 

Funeral Chant, Shaarimoth, Tomb Mold, Benighted, Immolation, Rude, Svart Crown

edit to be more specific:

Funeral Chant and Svart Crown are death/black
Shaarimoth, Tomb Mold, Immolation, and Rude are straight up death
Benighted is death/grind

Wow! This is really good. Thanks for posting this. This is must listen for any fan of experimental metal/music. There are so many styles it is really hard to classify.

 

I've loved their style since I first listened to them a couple of years ago.

Listen to this. Fantastic black metal from Quebec. And this is coming from someone who is still very hit or miss when it comes to black metal.

Idk how to approach people who have created things that have affected me at all but I kinda wish I could have talked to him a little. And of course no one their knew who he was.
