Take arms, it'll all blow over Prestigious

Cattle Decapitation is really doing death-core like no one else at the moment. New one is a mammoth, don't know if it'll dethrone Death Atlas for me but that's a tall task.

They dropped two albums today one is their more standard deathcore metalcore stuff (very good) but the other is a sludged out fare that’s a bit different and super super good. I only just got into them last year and haven’t gotten overly familiar outside of knowing I love their sound, but yeah give them both a shot

Not a huge fan but it’s pretty interesting to see their progression over the years from flat brim/gold foil print music to something more interesting and refined. It Comes In Waves was cool.

Didn't think much of the Chained to the Bottom of the Earth album... Great sound, great art, great song titles, killer production....but for the most part the songs aren't there and it just drags for me.

Really enjoying Enforced, and the Krallice is my fave of theirs for a while.

Being from the TAS hometown area, it’s always been fun being a fan even though they had a bad streak of releases for a hot minute. 3750 and The Dead Walk pioneered that sound which was bit off by countless bands after. They leaned more heavily into the metal influences when Continent dropped. Great album, not as good as it’s predecessors. Outside of the Beast intro on Wormwood, I think that’s their third weakest album behind Coma Witch and Gravebloom (both of which are completely skippable.) Death Is the Only Mortal follows those closely, with more diverse song structuring and better lyricism but that was the last album D.L. who was the lead guitarist (and scariest-dude-at-your-local-show) up to that point left the band to Vincent and Kevin who’ve interchanged quite a bit of the lineup since.

Since Vincent seems to be a way better person mentally and creatively the past few years, the band has been crushing it since It Comes In Waves.

If I were to handpick a top 10 to introduce somebody to the band:

Carbomb -> Smoke Ya Later (on 3750)
    As If Set Afire
    Whoa! Shut It Down
    Dr. Doom
    Baby Buster
    Beast
    Our
    Them
Feed A Pidgeon, Breed a Rat
The Lucid Dream (ft. Jess from Mortality Rate)

Somebody also mentioned Sensory Deprivation as a great single and I support that. Headbanger start to finish.

Deathcore is deathcore. Adding melodies is nothing new to the genre. See FFAA. That being said, good for TAS for changing it up and glad to see them being so successful.

Also, iris.exe never got credit on the song titles she worked on…

Vincent has openly stated for years he hates his band being labeled as deathcore and wants to be called heavy lol.

Have you caught the new stuff yet? Closest to their old sound they’ve had yet and some of their most aggressive tracks ever. See: CHAIN

I’ve checked out the singles and enjoyed them. I mean it’s really not up to him what they are labeled but I get it.

it honestly isn’t that difficult if you have the means, orange head cranked to ten and like two full stack cabs haha

most doom rigs are remarkably stripped down for how huge the sound is. it’s just a matter of having basically an air hangar to yourself to handle the volume lol
