Cannibal Corpse kicked so much ass last night. Really happy the Gulch show ended in time for me to catch them. Perfect cap to the day.

My favorite metal show (I've been to a grand total of 3) was darkest Hour's undoing ruin ten year tour. They're the main reason I listen to heavy shit, must've listened to undoing ruin hundreds of times in college. Got to see dead to fall at that show, that was a fun time.

So seeing this post got me beyond psyched...until I realized the Brooklyn show is on my wifes due date and now I'm trying to convince her that facetiming in for the delivery is basically the same as being there.

Went to the last date of the Converge / Full of Hell / Uniform / Thou tour last night and I am not kidding when I say it was one of the best shows I've ever been to out of the 700+ shows I've seen.

Absolutely unreal lineup and Converge are truly STILL on top of their game.

Also VERY stoked on that Darkest Hour / Zao / Bloodlet run. I remember riding my bike to Target the day Deliver Us dropped to buy it. Crazy that it's been 15 years. I wanted to drive to Chicago for that Undoing Ruin tour with Dead to Fall but missed out. Super glad this one is coming 10 minutes away from me.

I saw Darkest Hour on a tour where Veil of Maya opened for them. The show was a fucking nightmare. Thankfully everyone cleared out before DH. I felt bad for them that there were only about 30 out of the 400 people left at the show. It was amazing though. I jumped over some kid's head for Doomsayer. Got pulled on stage and sang along with the band. One of my fave concert experiences ever.

Best metal show might be this one. Venue was tiny and my ears still ring from that night.

I've been lucky enough to see Darkest Hour at least four times off the top of my head:

-2008 Thrash and Burn tour in Norfolk, VA at The Norva w/ Misery Signals, Arsis, Abigail Williams, and a bunch of other bands. Can't remember who because it's been so long and those were the only 4 bands I really cared to see.

-Jan 2009 in Harrisonburg, VA in a fucking livestock show arena w/ As I Lay Dying, Protest the Hero, and The Human Abstract. I remember this one pretty vividly because I got in for free due to the college radio station I worked at. I had to table for the radio station at the event, but no one really cared when I stood on the table at the back of the room to watch Darkest Hour's set. They played a good show at this one. I remember being particularly stoked they busted out The Patriot Virus at this one.

-2/26/2011 at Skate High in Virginia Beach w/ Born of Osiris, As Blood Runs Black, and The Human Abstract. Saw this one at an indoor skate park on a weekend home from college. I remember being pissed that I missed The Human Abstract at this one because my friend's then girlfriend took forever to get ready. As Blood Runs Black was not my cup of tea. Darkest Hour killed it with a pretty standard 9 song set they had at that time (The Sadist Nation, Convalescence, With A Thousand Words, Demons, Doomsayer, Savor The Kill).

-2/23/2017 at Reggies in Chicago w/ Rotten Sound, Ringworm, and Rivers of Nihil. Great show all around with probably the best overall support I've seen at a Darkest Hour show. I was honestly more stoked to see Rotten Sound at the time, but Darkest Hour still killed it. Pretty sure this was the release tour for Godless Prophets too?
