Side note, does anybody else feel like bands are going a little too nuts with single releases anymore? I swear, whenever I go to catch up on recent releases I find probably two new albums atop piles and piles and piles of singles. The worst is with release tracking playlists on Spotify because bands keep bundling past singles into joint Spotify releases. It feels like by the time the album drops a third of it is already released in cluttered Spotify single or EP joint releases. As a person who usually prefers to listen to full albums straight through outside of bands I really like, it's so aggravating.

In a world of streaming it makes more sense. Look at Spiritbox and releasing singles well before their album release. It is annoying but this is the new way things will be.

Although, it doesn’t work for everyone.

I think Covid has a lot to do with it too (thought the trend started before the pandemic)

About what I'd expect from a Trivium song in 2021. Competent and inoffensive with decent guitarwork but nothing mindblowing.

I haven't been a big Trivium fan since Ascendancy but it's nice to see they're still pumping out decent stuff.

I'm speculating a lot of this is because of the pandemic. Bands want to keep their fans hyped and aware of their existence, but are unable to tour so it's not necessary the most feasible environment to put out an LP at this time. In turn, you get singles and EPs to keep their fanbase satiated. I've noticed an explosion of those, and I'd probably wager most of the physical music I've bought over the pandemic has been tape or seven inch copies of EPs or demos as a result of that. Probably also because they're generally cheaper and it keeps my need for owning physical media satisfied.

Same. Then I remember them putting out The Crusade and my elitist ass at the time lost complete interest in them because it sounded like a completely different band to 17-year old Shane. I probably should go back and give that a relisten with older, wiser ears.

Instead of checking out new music today, I ended up on this slab of 80s Italian speed metal. I dig it a lot. Reminds me of something @theagentcoma might like.
