Russian atmospheric doom/black metal one-man band

 

the wolves in the throne room track fucking smacks

 

I had never heard of this band before but saw them mentioned as a new progressive metal release on Nuclear Blast and I am pleasantly surprised.

 

Even though most Panopticon albums are pretty much the same, drawn out nature-based atmo-black metal albums with folk and country undertones, they really aren't a bad band at all.

Also I’ve been listening to a lot of Baptists this week. Perfect for jogging

 

I'm always down with some Dismember/Entombed worship.

On the subject of Entombed and Dismember, I've started reading Swedish Death Metal by Daniel Ekeroth. About a hundred pages in and it's been an engaging read.

 

Night Verses is a band I totally forgot about

 

it’s still mostly just Austin’s solo project

 

The rhythm section with this band is still truly something

 

Didn't know that.

Anyway, the new album is pretty good, but it's more of the same.

 

Good god that new Lorna Shore. If you ever need to summon some demons, you know what to play.

 

I've been looping into the north woods a lot recently. Love it.

 

I posted in the hardcore thread already but it may be more appropriate here. The new WristMeetRazor record is tight. If you like(d) early-mid 2000s metalcore, check it out.

 

Also, the Go Ahead and Die record kicks major ass.
