And that's not to say that Oncoming Storm probably isn't an objectively better album, but III was the first album I heard from them so it's always going to be my emotional favorite.

Unearth is probably the most underrated metalcore band from that era IMO. They've never lost a step in their niche.

I'm sure if I went back and listened to III I'd enjoy it more now. The genre got a bit formulaic and that record just felt like more of the same. I felt the same way about As Daylight Dies.

Giles is a cool song off III, that’s all I got to say for that album.

speaking of Giles, remember when the guy from BTBAM made this record?

That was such a weird record

The Boston/New England bands from that era are arguably some of the best that ever existed in the genre.

    Killswitch Engage
    Shadows Fall
    Unearth

I guess you could argue All That Remains were still fairly good at that point.

I was so excited for new All That Remains when they released that crazy single a few years back. The record didn't hold up, but the song is still a banger.

Brian Fair lives in STL now and has a great band called Hell Night if you haven’t listened to them yet.

Very solid metalcore album. This Darkened Heart was pretty good too.

Never been big on All That Remains but yeah doubling back to Bleeding Through and Unearth I don't think either of them have a single miss in their discographies. They're basically thrash-y melodeath with hooks and breakdowns. If it ain't broke, don't fix it.

Bleeding Through’s The Truth should’ve blew them up honestly, good album. Probably some of my favorite album art too.

All That Remains was ruined by Phil being a right-wing cuck. The Fall of Ideals still rips though. RIP Oli.

I'll just leave it at that.

ATR SUUUUUUCKS now, and Phil is a douche, but everything up until Fall of Ideals (and even a few select tracks after) was top tier New England metalcore.

Yeeeeaaahhhh didn't quite wanna say it out loud but I definitely lost what interest I had in ATR after Phil started showing his ass

ATR was a band I never cared about. I don't know why

Out of all the New England bands they were definitely the lowest common denominator (unless you count Godsmack).

My favorite Phil moment is when he offered people to pay him for a lesson in libertarianism.

I do kinda wish I saw the KSE tour with him fronting the band when Howard was out with an injury, it was basically alternate reality KSE since he almost was the frontman before Howard auditioned.
