having a hard time getting excited about music lately tbh

 

Was thinking the same thing lately - I dunno if it's just burnout or the pandemic or what, but as of late I've been legitimately lamenting the fact that nothing impresses me musically anymore the way it did back when I first discovered extreme metal. Nothing is ever going to scare the shit out of me the way Manufactured Extinct by Cattle Decapitation did back when I first heard it, or blast my skull in like Subjected To A Beating by Dying Fetus did the first time I heard that. No summer is going to compare to that renaissance of extreme music I dove headfirst into back in the day. Nowadays I hear some of the absolute gnarliest, most caveman rampaging shit you could imagine and just kind of nod while making the Obama "Not Bad" face.

I miss the days when extreme metal could make me lean back in my seat and scare me to the bone. I've climbed the tallest mountain and scaled the highest peak, man. There are no heights left to scale to.

This rant got away from me but I'm bored locked up in my house, sue me.

This is like if Ghost was mildly creepier. I haven't really figured out if this unironically sucks yet or if it's awesome but either way I love this song.

Devangelic stay fucking gnarly no matter what. Brutal death metal with proper riffs is where it's at. Love these guys.

This shit is finally on Spotify. Still one of the most stupidly brutal records I've ever heard in my life, no contest. That snare sounds like it's about to explode into a million pieces and I love it.

 

Also listen to this song and the full album or you're a chump. Indigenous metal band from Brazil with themes about the Inca if I'm not mistaken. I'll fact check but they're fucking good.
