Not to defend Tim or Jake but it's hard to know the intricacies of a friendship. I assume Jake knows Tim better than any of us. I've chosen not to support AILD or any other project Tim works on, but I'm not condemning ABR just yet. Although Jake should probably have just kept their friendship private and not jumped on a song with him.

I have no problem with someone privately supporting their friend through a hard time. That's your right as a human being. Lord knows I've supported and been supported privately through my own personal hardships. That said, creating a mini-documentary detailing your friend's band's "untold story" and jumping on a new song of theirs is a different story to me. Tim doesn't need a creative platform anymore, and this public support is enough for me to write them off. That's my take on this, and y'all are entitled to your viewpoints and levels of support as well.

I'm gonna go back to my Mournful Congregation deep dive and get lunch now.

Publicly showing support, as well as opening the door to more money for Tim using his talent and band following is a big negative to me. He can be friends with whoever he wants in his personal life. But helping him garner a bigger platform to spew his bullshit and allow for more monetary gains is not cool at all.

The guy attempted to have someone murdered. He's a piece of shit. I don't care to hear a single excuse from him or anyone hoodwinked by him.

I know only Matt and Jake from ABR are Christians. They let that label go a long time ago.

What blows my mind about the public support for Tim is the complete lack of self-awareness about what he did. Like dude straight up tried to have his wife killed, how you could look at that and not be repulsed is beyond me.

Yeah he's not somebody who said some offensive shit or creeped somebody out. He attempted to have someone murdered. Someone he "loved." He paid money for it. If it hadn't been an undercover officer that he was in contact with, he would've succeeded and then falsely mourned his dead wife.

It's not rocket science, the dude is a trash human being and should be excommunicated by everyone. Do you know why he's trying to keep AILD going? Cause it's the only way he can likely make money. No one will hire you with that on your record unless it's to clean up elephant shit at the circus or run an Adult World. Trying to garner the sympathy factor from AILD's fan base and riding off their old success? Fuck you dude.

IDGAF what other bad decisions you were making (like steroids) that you now try to harness as your excuse. Deserves no platform in music and anyone overlooking that and helping him out is shitty too.

And in case anyone thinks i'm overdoing it, lets not forget this pitiful, shitty interview Alt Press did 1 year after the fact, while he was sober, where he painted himself a victim and tried to make the excuse that he was a cheater and steroid user because he wasn't getting "adoration" at home. From his wife mind you, who was dealing with his crazy ass and taking care of their 3 kids. Some of which were adopted and his decision to do so. he would've had a mother of 3 murdered. The claims she made against him in court he chalked up to her being emotional. "I took steroids cause I wanted to have magazine level fitness."

Tim Lambesis world exclusive interview: The As I Lay Dying singer breaks his year-long silence - Alternative Press

Walking. Human. Excrement. I don't get why the band even got back with him. They shared their complete disdain for his excuses when this came out. They're all hoodwinked. He served only 2 years. Not good enough.

No one ever asks how his ex wife feels about all this to boot, like I can’t even imagine how it feels knowing your ex husband tried to have you killed and then when he gets out of jail, he talks a big game about God and forgiveness like what happened was no big deal. I would be devastated in her position.

I can acknowledge they've improved stylistically since then, leveler is a jam as is constellations

There were multiple years where he denounced his faith and his disdain for Christianity. He also claimed the rest of the band were atheists, which they all hated him for. I can't even fully comprehend the clusterfuck of a story this is. Gets convicted, finds God again and blah blah I only stopped believing cause steroids. SO sick of it. More props to MetalSucks for refusing to cover the band and their reunion, and all the venues that cancelled their shows with them.

If she's lucky, he's had no ability to contact her and her kids are safely away from him and unaware of his actions until they're old enough to process/she's ready to tell them.

MetalSucks really hit it on the head: "The only compelling argument one could make in favor of the As I Lay Dying reunion would be if Meggan Lambesis were to forgive Tim. That would change everything. It’s hard to imagine that his victim is anything but devastated that scores of fans will now be celebrating a man who conspired to kill her. Perhaps she has moved on, but unless that proves to be the case it’s very premature for anyone else to let Tim off the hook. Meggan should be the one in the driver’s seat here, the ultimate arbiter of forgiveness, not the other members of the band, and certainly not their fans.

What it comes down to, ultimately, is this: how does the metal community want to portray ourselves to the world? As people who let anyone get away with anything so long as they continue to write sick riffs? Think about what sending that message says about you: “I value a catchy tune that reminds me of my teenage years more than I value other human lives.” That’s not a dramatic exaggeration. That is literally what it means to support Lambesis."

I don’t think we will ever get the full story and why the band forgave him. At the end of the day, we can only do our part of not supporting him by not buying his records, going to his shows, streaming his music AND posting stuff from him and the band on here.

100%. I’m posting in the support of calling out Jake for being an excuser for Tim and featuring on their new single.

Edit: this guy did it way better. Surprised I am just seeing this now.

Loving that new Killswitch song. Can't wait for it to be officially released so I can soak it all in, even though that radio leak isn't bad.

Not to detract from the overall position here (that I 100% agree with), but this might be the only time where a take from Metalsucks was right without coming off as sensationalist and reactionary while actually being somewhat well written. LoL.

That just shows how much AILD is in the wrong here.

I mean...enjoying a song from 2005 (arguably his pre-psycho days) is the equivalent of supporting homicide?

While I love just about every Shai Hulud record out there, I’ve heard many times that Matt Fox is awful to work with. Arrogant and a huge asshole to anyone he’s ever allowed in the band.

I am nobody to tell anyone how to support/not support an artist. My point was directed at a persons current status. Early AILD played a huge part in shaping my musical tastes and you can’t deny they made some damn good records.
