This album is pretty good. A mix of older Walls of Jericho and Ithaca.

ULVER Cancel US Tour Due To Lack of Ticket Sales

 

You can go many ways with this. There's traditional/epic doom like Candlemass, Solitude Aeturnus, Trouble, Saint Vitus, and Solstice. Hell, even Black Sabbath is pretty doom-y. Solstice had a new album that came out last year that got really good reviews.

Then you have your fuzzy stoner stuff like Sleep, Electric Wizard, High on Fire, and Yob. Recent releases I enjoyed in this genre are the 2018 albums by Green Druid and Conan. Elder's got a great discography in this vein and the Mammoth Weed Wizard Bastard album from earlier this year might be worth a look if you want to check out more psychedelic stuff.

And lastly, there's the surge of doom bands like Khemmis, Pallbearer, Spirit Adrift, Baroness, and Crypt Sermon. Anything by Khemmis is good, but I'd started with Hunted.

I tried watching the Canadian version of this and its just an awful clone

 

The American version is awful too, but my parents love it, and I don't get control of the TV when I'm over at their place so I know way more about it than I care to admit.

I dabble in doom from time to time...feel like Indian was the first band I really really enjoyed. Boris is a great doom act of Japan.

 

four suggestions:

Warning - Watching from a Distance (a modern record in the classic doom style; not one of the pioneers but an excellent intro to the world of doom because of how good & “accessible” it is)

Reverend Bizarre - In the Rectory of the Bizarre Reverend (another modern classic)

My Dying Bride - Turn Lose the Swans (death / doom classic)

Esoteric - Maniacal Vale (modern funeral doom)

tried to choose my personal favorite amongst mandatory / classic albums sometimes going for more modern stuff

hope you like - there’s a ton of good shit out there

 

This actually gets pretty funny. Some of the genres are just ridiculous.

Jared Dines is a weird one for me. Like some of his videos are genuinely funny and he appears to be a nice guy but he definitely makes a lot of clickbait videos

 

Ehhh, I think he just takes Metal and makes it fun/funny.

 

I don't really think he makes much clickbait at all. Maybe it's just because I've been following him for almost five years now but every video he makes strikes me as an honest effort. I know the guy struggles with severe anxiety and depression combined with the pressure of full-time YouTube so I'd imagine of course many of his ideas don't hold up but I don't think I'd call it clickbait per se.

 

I personally find videos like him watching metal videos and making fun of them for example to fit that criteria
