I'm trying to go through some of last year's releases that I've missed. This album in particular is a harrowing journey through bleakness and crushing depression:

I hate that I think some of Leviathans music is so great because the guy who makes it is lower than garbage unfortunately.

Bongripper and False tonight. Pray I don't drink myself into a coma because Local Option is tapping a new coffee stout at the event.

Trying to wrap my head around the fact that new albums from Trap Them, True Widow, Alcest, Oathbreaker, Neurosis and Manatees are being released in the next two months. What a time to be alive.

I actually kind of like this one. Not crazy about those gang vocals on the chorus or whatever's going on there, but the guitars are solid enough. I have no idea why they thought a choir of children was a good idea. Ugh. Drags the song down so much.

So I don't know how "metal" these guys are but I'm really enjoying the new ADTR album! Got that shit the day it came out and I am happy with my decision

^^forget the elitism that is associated with metalheads, listen to whatever the hell you want. ADTR is tight.

Didn't know Trap Them had new material coming. That's a sweet band. Hope the new one will be alot better than their last album

Agreed, ADTR were one of my gateway bands that got me used to harsh vocals and heavier guitars. Love 'em.

Also, I feel like giving this thread a good shot of grind I've been listening to lately, so here goes.

I know everyone is WAAYYY PAST this, but was reading through and got to the section about Atreyu. I agree the shift between Deathgrip and Lead Sails was jarring for a ton of people and IMO as a whole doesn't hold up Curse or Deathgrip, but I'd be kidding myself if I said I don't love Doomsday, Where Two Are One and Lose It. If anyone has brushed off their new one, it is pretty much all heavy and I'd go on record that Reckless may be on of their best songs ever.

In 2010 I went on a road trip around the states with my friends. It was the best month of my life. The whole time we listened to "homesick" so adtr will always have a special place in my heart.

Also 2nd sucks is a heavy fucking song and common courtesy was a decent album. I gotta listen to the new album, only heard paranoia and it was meh.

no offense but i checked out some of the new adtr songs.....nothing remotely metal about them

They aren't a metal band so I don't think anyone would take offense to that. They mix Heavy screaming and breakdowns with pop punk. They have some good heavy songs though, but I wouldn't call them metal really.

the few songs i heard were devoid of the screaming and breakdowns, even.

yeah, they have songs that mix the two, songs that are just pop punk and ones that are just heavy. If you are picking random songs, it's the luck of the draw lol. The 3 I listed above are heavier.

Any fans of Wovenwar? They put up a new song that's pretty good.

I was a huge fan of As I Lay Dying and thought Awaken was amazing, but then all that Tim drama happened. Glad the band could continue.

The only good song ADTR ever put out was "Mr. Highway...", which coincidentally is probably their heaviest track. I say this with the caveat that I have barely listened to their first few releases so there may be something on there that's "heavier" that I'm forgetting.

That break down in Mr Highway ☺ 2nd Sucks, Sonic and Tails, Bad Vibrations and Exposed are all heavier though. Their heaviest song to date is Life Lessons Learned the Hard Way.

    Edit:
    here ya go!

the new Wovenwar song is alright, but Poison Headache are without question the best thing to ever come of As I Lay Dying. And I like AILD/Wovenwar, ha.
