Checking out the new Amon amarth on my commute to work rn

 

After a couple listens to the new Amon Amarth record, it doesn't hit the highs of their mid-00s albums, but it's still a solid entry into their discography IMO. It's on par with Jomsviking.

 

new ringworm album is a new ringworm album but that just means it's solid metallic hardcore. also listened to the new lord dying album and it's...good but it's gonna take a while to grow on me some more. definitely wasn't prepared for this album sounding like it does.

 

Arsis just put out new stuff which makes me so happy. Darkest hour was definitely my intro into that world.

I remember in a very short span discovering black dahlia, arsis, necrophagist, and red chord. Mid 2000s was some good times.

 

Red Chord were, and remain, vastly underrated.

 

Cop-metal!

 

The Lord Dying record is super underrated. It does take a little while to get going, but listen to it a few times and I think you'll dig it. The last few tracks are really great, imo.

I think every genre of metal has some real terrible stuff. I don't know that I could really rate genres.

Pirate metal honestly seems like something that one band would do as a gimmick but then you realize that all of them do the same gimmick.
