I missed all the Poison the Well talk over the weekend, but I don't have much to add other than the fact that I miss them. :(

 

The new Cave In song is pretty good. It sounds like a Perfect Pitch Black-era b-side to me, which isn't a bad thing, because I love that album.

New track from Nucelus, sci-fi themed death metal straight outta Chicago.

 

The Opposite of December is PTW's best...just an iconic record that still sounds good nearly 20 years later.

Always really liked YCBY as well...but never got into the later stuff.

Also also this may go unnoticed by some, but a band called Ceremony of Silence just released their debut on Friday. It's a great slab of dissonant blackened death metal, definitely worth a listen:

I also had no idea Friendship dropped a new album earlier this year. They're a rad Japanese powerviolence/grind/sludge band FFO Full of Hell, Weekend Nachos. Gonna give it a listen later today:

also damn this new Wormwitch album is siiiick. Super catchy black/crust with D-beats for days. Came out last week:

 

First video they have done without Ollie and now with Jason Richardson. I think this is the first song I have liked from them in a while.

 

I considered going to see ATR last week out of nostalgia and the fact that there was a $12 ticket on StubHub. But they were TERRIBLE the last time I saw them, and Atilla and Escape the Fate were opening so I decides to stay home and watch paint dry instead. It was a good decision.

 

I’m not sure which is the lesser of all evils but I’m willing to bet money on ATR but I think in the end I would have done what you did.
