Stuck In Evil Mode For 31 Days Prestigious

You know what, I’m kinda glad it is. I honestly think that whole scene is way overhyped and people largely gave free passes to those musicians for doing horrible shit because it was “evil”. Like don’t get me wrong, there’s some important records that came of that scene and it certainly set the tone for the genre to come but let’s be real about it, it was a bunch of immature dudes who were trying out edge each other.

i mean, i think that's the consensus amongst most people who DO like that music/era, myself included. at this point i think the only people who still take that shit seriously are the ultra-kvlt reactionaries and NSBM dorks. i haven't seen the movie yet (and I've never read the book) but it seems like they're portraying them the way they actually were - a bunch of kids caught up in a movement they spearheaded but were too young and immature to really grasp.

i also like that they cast a jewish man to play varg, something i'm sure he's definitely having a normal one about.

Yeah, seeing this film as soon as possible, and I'll probably unironically love it just because of the listed reasons.

Lords of Chaos was pretty bad, tbh.

So many ridiculous moments... they burn a church then look at each other and say "Am I Evil? Yes I Am" - making fun of a guy for having a Scorpions patch on his jacket - calling Morbid Angel pussies - telling the customer in the record store that he'll only be able to find the real black metal in the store if he's not a poser.

That being said, if you aren't an elitist and can have a laugh at the whole thing, it's worth a watch.

The more I think about it, it's actually a really hilarious movie. I really want to go see it in the theater with a crowd.

    Like The Room?

I haven't seen it yet but I doubt it's comparable to The Room. The Room is hilarious in short spurts but watching the whole thing through is mind numbingly just plain boring. I always tell people they're better off watching a gag reel of the funniest bits of The Room rather than watching the whole thing.

I mean, LOC is at least comprehensible. It's just laughable throughout. I'd just be curious to see the reactions at certain lines from a crowd full of metal fans. Just wait til you get to the final line of the movie.

The Room was one of the biggest wastes of an hour and a half in my GD life. I agree with kemp. A clip real is the best way to appreciate it.

I will never understand enjoying things that are "so bad they're good". I guess I don't have the capability of ironically wasting my time. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

that said here's a new song from my band people in this thread might appreciate. It goes from Dillinger Escape Plan vibes with a little Daughters tones to straight up HEALTH. Hope you guys dig it, or else this post will come up as very ironic regarding "not wasting my time ironically on bad things".

there's a difference between a straight up satirical mockumentary and something that's an aberration like The Room. unless i'm missing something about your post here.

The Room is funny to many people. It’s not a waste of time if your enjoying yourself. It wouldn’t have a cult following for 15+ years if there was nothing to be gained.

I'm not disputing that, I'm just saying I can't personally get into "so bad its good things", unlike "best of"-clips of The Room, which are generally extremely entertaining.

i never thought we'd talk about the room in the metal thread, but here we are. lol. i'm generally not opposed to "so-bad-it's-good" type things. there's a reason that independence day and con air are two of my favorite movies. the room just doesn't meet that criteria for me though.

also, when the room was first mentioned, i definitely though people were talking about that brie larson movie from a couple years ago, and was like, "that movie was actually great. why are people talking about it like it's a piece of shit?" heh.

to keep this post somewhat metal related, the new Candlemass is pretty damn good. the iommi guest spot is awesome.

You can't put independence day and Conair in the same category. You just can't .
