This may sound odd - I liked both of their own albums, but boygenius didn't do it for me for whatever reason haha.

    Oooh nice she's great too!

Haha the thread for people who love cool folk ladies as well as metal I guess...

I agree. I love Phoebe/Julian, but Boygenius was wayyyy over hyped imo. Good music just didn’t touch the albums from the individuals involved.

That's my sentiment exactly. Like it had some good moments obviously but largely I just didn't feel it.

What's that you said? Someone rank Bloodbath albums? If you insist!

    1) The Fathomless Mastery
    2) Grand Morbid Funeral
    3) Ressurection Through Carnage
    4) The Arrow of Satan is Drawn
    5) Nightmares Made Flesh

But in all seriousness Stranger in the Alps is an all time favorite album for me.

Grand Morbid Funeral is numero uno for me. So much gnarliness in that.

Grand Morbid Funeral is sooo good but I gotta go with TFM as my favorite. Especially the reissue deluxe version with 15 tracks altogether. Peak Bloodbath.

Also very very good. In the classic DM canon, I often ask "why the fuck would you listen to Cannibal Corpse when you could listen to Bloodbath?"

My turn; we rank Machine Head...

    1. The Burning Red
    2. The More Things Change
    3. Burn My Eyes
    4. Through The Ashes Of Empires
    5. The Blackening
    6. Bloodstones & Diamonds
    7. Unto The Locust
    8. Supercharger
    9. Catharsis

My music listening is about 50% black, death, extreme shit. 50% every other genre from Free Jazz, Noise, Gothic Country, IDM, Post-Rock, 12 Tone Classical, Crust Punk, Power Electronics, Progressive Rock, Shoegaze, Chiptune, everything under the sun. I can usually find at least one artist or album in every genre, I still gravitate towards certain genres over others (ie. I find myself liking Industrial Hip Hop over Trap Rap in general, or I'd gravitate towards Thrash Metal over Groove Metal). I like to stay open minded, Im a bit musically obsessed lol.

That sounds a lot like me to be honest. I can find at least one artist in a genre I enjoy without fail - like I usually hate radio/active rock stuff but I found myself really liking Nothing More, for example. I just try to stay open to all styles because there's generally something there I'll be able to get into.

RIP Fallen Empire record label. They released top tier black metal that was an amalgamation of being weird, musicially inclined, and completely hateful. Just how I liked it. They will be missed.

Ah man, I fuck with some Chevelle. They're one of the few nu metal-era bands (I know they aren't nu metal to be clear) that can stand the test of time.

You know what? Considering I dislike Megadeth beyond the first three albums I didn't hate it. I just can't really reconcile what a turd Mustaine is at times so Megadeth are a difficult one for me.

@Nate_Johnson were you ever into these guys?

I am pretty sure there was once a time where the 2-minute mark in this song onward was the best breakdown ever in my life. Video is horrendous but this EP was well underrated. Was really not a fan of the follow up album though.

I thought I'd share a local Aussie band that's been getting some traction. It's nothing groundbreaking - pretty standard metallic/beatdown/mosh stuff (which is fucking huge here down under right now), kind of a cross between Harms Way and Kublai Khan - but it's fun stuff to listen to.
