One of my favorite heavy releases ever.

So I finally listened to that vein album. It reminded me of the first time I spun opposite of December by ptw. Glad it made so many eoty lists.

 

That Vein album is stupidly caveman-heavy. Can't believe it slipped under my radar. Kind of reminds of Harms Way with those chest-pounding bone-simple riffs.

 

The new Rosetta is very different but very good.

The Yatra record is great.

 

So this is actually really good

If you were to tell 18 year old swboyd that a supergroup featuring current and ex-members of Bullet for My Valentine, Still Remains, and Threat Signal would be a thing, I'd be so stoked to listen to it. Now that I'm approaching 30, the end result of this endeavor isn't bad, but nothing remarkable.

 

Ulthar announced a North American tour with Scorched but they're not coming to Seattle

 

They did just play there in November with Hissing tho...

Very similar to Harms Way. Except the new Harms Way is very meh and same-y, while the new Vein shreds.

Also, I came across this and dug it. Not sure what you'd call it, atmospheric post/sludge-metal?

 

The Moth Gatherer are great! I think they fall into Post Metal territory but in the end it's great.

 

I'll have to check out their stuff!
