Behemoth has a new song up behind a prayer wall supposedly. I'll let the more devout take the lead on this one since I'm at work at the moment...

I've been listening to a lot of Candlemass today...those first two albums of theirs are absolutely phenomenal. Glad I'm starting to work on some of the glaring gaps I have in terms of OG legendary metal albums.

Not one act or album in particular. There's a lot of older "legendary" more underground metal bands that I haven't dug too deeply in their discographies until this year - Cianide, Dismember, Dissection, Demolition Hammer, for example. Candlemass is the latest band in this vein. I started this after a conversation with a friend revealed how ignorant I was about a lot of the torchbearers in underground metal. I figured I should work on remedying start and have found a lot of good stuff that I like.

Manilla Road, Rippikoulu, Sodom, and Benediction are all in my general mental queue that'd probably fall under this list.

Word, I’m only asking because I have probably larger gaps in my library than you do, without a doubt LOL. I have Massive Killing Capacity because it’s cited as a forefather for that driving d-beat metal style that Nails and Trap Them plays. I will certainly check out the others thanks

I have to admit, music fatigue has caught up with me. I haven't been listening to a whole lot of new stuff. Honestly haven't been listening to a whole lot of metal lately. Mostly because I've been too busy to seek out/keep up with new stuff. I'm sure some of you can relate. It happens every so often.

That being said, here is a release I have listened to recently. French death/doom in the vein of Disma/Funebrarum that came out last week. I'll admit I'm not the biggest fan of meaningless intro tracks, but this albums begins with a short intro consisting of an intense build of drums, only to be unleashed along with the rest of the band into a huge sonic gut punch. This slowly fades into the first actual track, and the barrage continues from there. I'm really liking it.

I'm so pissed about the line up at my date. I mean, it's still gonna be a KILLER show, but I get Ghoul and Havok when I could've had Power Trip and Khemmis.

When The Black Dahlia Murder and Havok are my least favorite bands on a lineup (we also get Midnight, Ghoul, GOST, and Skeletal Remains here), you know it's a stacked tour.

If Havok avoided playing anything of their latest album (those cornball lyrics about PC warriors), they'd be up there too.

New crust/d-beat/death metal project featuring 3/4 of Baptists, 1/3 of Sumac, and the harsh vocalist of 3 Inches of Blood. Holy shit, this is good. FFO Mammoth Grinder, Trap Them

Yeah, I mean it's a SUPER solid line up - Wish they would have just gotten all of these acts for an entire run. Would have been a nice lineup for something like Summer Slaughter.

Power Trip and Khemmis are two of my favorite acts right now, and I've yet to see either live, so I'm just a little bitter they're not on my date. No Pig Destroyer either is kind of disappointing.

Unfortunately, the chances of Pig Destroyer and Khemmis doing an entire run like this are pretty slim (everyone in Pig Destroyer has jobs or plays in other bands that are just as busy; two of the Khemmis dudes are PhD candidates and the drummer is head brewer of Trve Brewing)...which is sad, but it is what it is. Power Trip will at least be around again sometime soon though with how frequently they tour.

I have no right to complain about this as I've seen every band you've mentioned in that last post at least once in the past year...with Khemmis leading the pack at 3 times (Decibel Tour, Maryland Deathfest, Record Release Show).

    a literal succubitch

Same over on my end, honestly. As much as I adore chewing through new release after new release, I have 1. literally listened to practically every new release I'm remotely interested in that's available on Spotify (since any other platform isn't the most accessible at my job) and thus I need to let the pool of releases refill a bit, and 2. hit a point where I just don't have the enthusiasm to burn through older discographies I need to catch up on on a day-by-day basis.

Most of my listening over the past few days has just been Jonathan Young covers, Andrew WK, Ten Second Songs and whatever random song I used to be obsessed with eight years ago happens to pop into my head for no reason.

    New Behemoth song.

Edit: The random chanting from children in the last third of the song is...somewhere between lol-inducing and cringeworthy.
