Haha no, it’s fine they can be talked about in here, it’s just that they’re big enough to generate their own independent discussion outside of their (broad) genre.

I’ve really liked both of the tracks off the new album and can’t wait to check out the full thing.

That, BTBAM, and Obscura all on the same day will be awesome.

I dunno what it is but I just cannot get into Deafheaven outside of a few tracks. I don't hate them but something's just never clicked right.

 

Khemmis brought me back to reality last night...and y'all can talk about Deafheaven in here. I won't react in a way to cause another kerfuffle.

I really just wanted to use the word kerfuffle in a relevant manner this morning.

I miss when Unearth wrote catchy riffs and harmony leads.

 

agreed. this is...missing something. it sounds like an early era Unearth track stripped of half the aggression with some okay leads thrown in for good measure.

 

Their last album didn't do a whole lot for me either, and this just sorta sounds like a continuation of that. Everything feels too mid-tempo-y, without any of the dynamics of a song like "Zombie Autopilot" or "Grave of Opportunity". They were always really good at those kind of stop-start/fast-slow songs that balanced At the Gates riffs with hardcore breakdowns and almost Iron Maiden-like harmonized lead hooks.

 

New track from Into Eternity...it's pretty solid. I forgot how much I liked The Scattering of the Ashes back in the day, and they sound pretty solid with their new vocalist.
