I love them but I feel like they could reel in the aesthetic a little bit

Slipknot was one of my fav bands growing up. I remember my stepdad taking me to fry’s to pick up vol.3 the day 7th grade ended for the summer. Saw them with Coheed too in ‘08 they were great.

Idk where you get the idea that a lot of good metal is cheesy

All of the “Big 4” are pretty cheesy tbh.

I think it’s also important to note that cheesy =\= not good

haha I forgot that arkaik is also the name of a drum and bass group, sorry about that (tho it's not that bad...)

Ya pretty much any metal that involves makeup/upside down crosses/666 makes me laugh. The lyrics only make it worse. Can still enjoy the sound though.

Believe was a p cool album back in the day. Dragon Ball Z movies had some dope metal. Where I first heard Deftones actually.

Metallica was more cheesy in aesthetic back then. But like yeah, Maiden, Priest, etc.

The Big 4 may seem cheesy now, but they were awesome as shit back in the day. Thrash was a response to the rise of glam metal. Thrash is life.

i mean i dont really think cheesy means bad either but i also dont think metal as a whole is any cheesier than any other genre and it gets a reputation from outsiders that it IS a cheesier genre than other kinds of music which i just dont think is fair. some good metal is cheesy, a lot of great metal is dead serious and deserves to be taken seriously.

cheesiness isnt the only problem with code orange but it doesnt help

I need to implement another music specific day like Thrash Metal Thursday. Mallcore Monday? War Metal Wednesday? Folk metal Friday? There are too many options.

    Random late Saturday night thoughts:

    1) Mammoth Grinder is amazing live. They killed it here in Chicago night. They really are an awesome amalgam of metal, punk, and hardcore filter through a death metal lens.

    2) Some of the best metal is cheesy as fuck. See Midnight, 3 Inches of Blood, and any solid goregrind band as examples.

    3) Code Orange was better when they were kids. Cycles and Love is Love were solid. I Am King upped the cheese factor and cringe, but it wasn't disjointed. Forever sounds like a kale smoothie with Disembodied mosh riffs, Fear Factory industrial passages, and nu-grunge blended together to create something stimulating but with no redeeming value. Bleeding in the Blur is the most coherent song on the album. Code Orange could actually be a consistent and aurally pleasing band if they wrote blended grunge/NIN style songs with Reba singing leads. The new Adult Swim Single was a step in the right direction until the jarring, out of place industrial passage came in. Here's to hoping that they continue to grow into a more consistent band.

I’m really enjoying the direction Code Orange are going in. I thought Forever was a pretty good album too but did feel a bit all over the place at times. I also like that new remix they did, it’s pretty much straight up NIN worship but I’m cool with that.

I’m off to see them in April which should be cool as all the live footage I’ve seen of them looks great.
