Here's a record I stumbled on in a Bandcamp wormhole search this morning from a thrash band with black metal influences (ala Toxic Holocaust/Aura Noir) that broke up 10 years ago that finally is putting out their debut LP after sitting on it for that long:

    Street Force ain't bad.

money aside, i'd kill for a mid-level metal fest line-up like this in chicago. we've got a few solid underground fests and open air, but nothing in between.

I'll have to drive an hour for that Full of Hell tour, but I've yet to see them or Gatecreeper. Thankfully it's on a Saturday.

They're both great live. I wasn't really into Gatecreeper but their live show changed that. And I only casually listen to Full of Hell but they were insane live. I hid upstairs on the balcony lol

So the Terror Fest is spread over 3 days at 3 different venues (mainly 2 venues, the 3rd one is just for after parties). The Early Bird 3-day pass is $125 and sold out. The regular 3-day pass is $145 and is also sold out, so that leaves just picking tickets for any one day at either of the two main venues. The sets are as follows:

    THURSDAY - MAY 31

    Neumo's:
    10:10 - END - Panopticon
    8:50 - 9:30 - SubRosa
    7:35 - 8:10 - False
    6:30 - 7:00 - Pillorian
    5:30 - 6:00 - Dreadnought

    Barboza:
    9:30 - 10:10 - Witch Mountain
    8:10 - 8:50 - Woman Is The Earth
    7:00 - 7:35 - Falls Of Rauros
    6:00 - 6:30 - Ragana
    5:00 - 5:30 - Eye of Nix

    THURSDAY AFTER PARTY

    Highline:
    12:30 - END - Danava
    11:30 - 12:10 - Czar

    FRIDAY - JUNE 1

    Neumo's:
    10:10 - END - Integrity
    8:50 - 9:30 - Full Of Hell
    7:35 - 8:10 - Gatecreeper
    6:30 - 7:00 - Necrot
    5:30 - 6:00 - Exhausted Prayer

    Barboza:
    9:30 - 10:10 - Primitive Man
    8:10 - 8:50 - Gloam
    7:00 - 7:35 - Of Feather And Bone
    6:00 - 6:30 - Lago
    5:00 - 5:30 - Mortiferum

    FRIDAY AFTER PARTY

    Highline:
    12:30 - END - Celeste
    11:30 - 12:10 - Barrowlands

    SATURDAY - JUNE 2

    Neumo's:
    10:10 - END - Agoraphobic Nosebleed
    8:50 - 9:30 - Thou
    7:35 - 8:10 - Emma Ruth Rundle
    6:30 - 7:00 - The Atlas Moth
    5:30 - 6:00 - He Whose Ox Is Gored

    Barboza:
    9:30 - 10:10 - Ufomammut
    8:10 - 8:50 - Mantar
    7:00 - 7:35 - White Hills
    6:00 - 6:30 - The Drip
    5:00 - 5:30 - Un

    SATURDAY AFTER PARTY

    Highline:
    12:30 - END - Himsa
    11:30 - 12:10 - Great Falls

When it comes down to it, the only days/venues I'm really interested in are the Thursday and Friday shows at Neumo's. Thursday because Panopticon, though False, Pillorian, and SubRosa would be cool to see. And the entire Friday lineup at Neumo's is amazing. There are definitely other bands spread throughout the fest that I would like to see like Agoraphobic Nosebleed, Thou, Ufomammut, Of Feather & Bone, Falls of Rauros, etc but the aforementioned lineups are the only ones I'd pay $30 for, which is the price for a single day event at Neumo's.

Oh fuck yes I had no idea there was new Rotten Sound on the way. This rips as usual.

Hell yeah they do. Not a single bad release tbh. And even then, Down has always been all about the riffs for me, so Phil being a dickhead doesn't really ruin them at all in my book.

As bad as Phil is, he is nowhere near as bad as the worst the metal scene has to offer. Not excusing him though, white power shit is pretty inexcusable by itself.

He might not even be the worst person named Phil in the metal scene nowadays (looking at you, Mr. Labonte), but that's going into politics and ideological differences in life that I'll save for a continued discussion on this topic.

Either way, happy Wednesday! Here's a new demo from a death metal band out of LA called Kommand:
