Cane Hill is pretty awesome! They played pretty early at Welcome To Rockville and killed it!

Speaking of seeing bands live, I had the privilege of catching Nekrogoblikon live with Psychostick, Urizen, The Curse Of Hail and another local band who didn't make much impression on me. All I have to say is, if you have the chance to see the first three bands live, fucking go for it. Nekrogoblikon killed it (and not just because they're my favorite band currently), Psychostick was fucking hilarious and all-around a great time, and I had never heard of Urizen before but they blew me away. They were also pretty funny.

    Would recommend all of them.

Start with the classics - 2112 by Rush, Images & Words by Dream Theater. For something more on the death/prog side , try Focus by Cynic.

I've wanted to see Psychostick live for the longest. I went to see them in 2006 or so when they re-released "We Couldn't Think of a Title" but my girlfriend got sick and we had to leave before they played. It would've been strange though, because we were literally 2 of maybe 10 people there. Do they still dress up like cows and stuff?

    but does it djent?

There's a huge music company about 30 minutes away from me (Sweetwater Sound) and each year they have a Gearfest with a bunch of workshops and vendors and one of the workshops is a short show/Q&A with Periphery. For being free that sounds worth it. Anyone seen them live?

I listened to 2 songs off of Opeth's Deliverance & Damnation - Remixed to see if I could tell a difference in the remastering of the tracks. I listened to Wreath and Deliverance and musically I could tell that the kicks hit harder, but couldn't tell a difference otherwise. I also wasn't able to listen to the original version back to back as all I had was Spotify at the time and it just has the new versions on there. I was able to tell that they added very strange echo/autotune to the clean vocals. It hit me right away when he started singing in Deliverance. I did not like that at all.

Friend told me to listen to the new Vektor album, haven't really paid much attention to metal for a while tbh as not too much recent stuff has been good, but damn, what an album.

Damn man, that blows. To answer your question, no, they weren't dressed as cows, but they still had their share of goofy attire. Their vocalist had this hat with multi-colored spikes of what appeared to be paper mache sticking out in every direction and I think their bassist had a hat with (sturdy) cardboard moose antlers. Other notable things was a guy in a suit and a full-head rhino mask coming out during "President Rhino" and them throwing socks into the audience during "Dogs Like Socks". It was crazy, haha.

That sounds like a lot of fun. I need to make it to one of their shows one of these days.

  21. Next Darkest Hour album to be produced by Kurt Ballou (Converge, Black Breath, High on Fire, Nails, ETID, etc). I'm pretty stoked about this.

So stoked for this. Let's hope this means the album is a return to their roots and not more of the Sumerian-core their last record was. ...Which I still kinda liked for the most part even if it's easily their weakest.
