Just made my first order from Hell's Headbangers. I feel like I've come of age, lol.

 

If I don't ever get a new Necrophagist album I will be very sad. Lots was supposedly written as of long ago. That new song they debuted live in 09 was absolutely masterful

I remember I was supposed to go to Summer Slaughter in 2009 after I graduated high school, but some stuff happened where my mom couldn't drive my friend and I (didn't have my own transportation yet at the time). That year was Necrophagist, Suffocation, Ensiferum, Darkest Hour, Winds Of Plague, Dying Fetus, Origin, Beneath The Massacre, After The Burial, Decrepit Birth, and a couple others.

Hopefully there's a date close to me for this years. Especially with Cannibal Corpse and Nile being on it for sure. Both Tampa bands, so I shouldn't have to worry.

 

As much as I hate to say it, I've kind of given up on Summer Slaughter as a whole. Maybe it's just that the lineups the last few years haven't appealed to me or my tastes have really diverged from the types of bands that they book. Nile and Cannibal Corpse would be cool, but how much of the rest of the bill is gonna be filled out with bands from Sumerian? Hopefully there will be a surprise or three that might make me come out if it's on a weekend.

And of course The Body announces a Chicago date the weekend I am gonna be in Wisconsin. Gahhhh.

 

You mean bands like darkest hour, erra, periphery, Dillinger escape plan, and after the burial? Ya, I wouldn't mind some more Sumerian on the bill at all.

Summer slaughter is billed as death so it'll encompass the good and the bad in the genre. Don't expect alot of relapse or southern lord bands on there.

 

I went in 09 and it was fantastic.

 

Ready for the remastered album to come out

 

Why are they still releasing singles/videos for an album that's a year and a half old? Why aren't they working on a new record instead?

Probably the best black metal album I've heard so far this year. Holy shit, this is amazing.

 

They're still touring on the album, so probably just another attempt to get more marketing/play out of the album. They got a bunch of festival shows later this summer, so will probably work on new material either before or after that. For how many albums they have out I thought they'd be more popular than they are by now, but they're still working hard at it, so hopefully they can continue to make new music for the foreseeable future

 

Yeah, I think they hit the peak of their popularity somewhere around The Oncoming Storm/III In the Eyes of Fire. Seems like they've kinda died off a little since then. I've always found them to be one of the more solid metalcore acts, though. Good live band too.

 

Fuck yes.

 

They're one of those bands that has stuck to the formula over the years and I'm totally ok with that.

 

Got around to listening to the new The Lion's Daughter album, straight fire.
