This was my exact thought about halfway through the song. Wasn't expecting that comparison when I pressed play.

Ooh I like Try! It’s got a nice bounce to it and the guitar tones are yummy

I would probably echo this sentiment. This record sounds amazing. It is the Menzingers and they don't miss. Based off of one listen, it will probably fall somewhere in the middle ranking of their discography, but obviously that could change. I was hoping for a song that would be emotionally devastating, because that is what I like, and I'm not sure there is one on here like that. Need to listen back.

Edit: The title track may be in the running for that song.

Album doesn't immediately grab me. I think the singles are the catchiest/most sing-a-longy. Need to turn it up and drive around for a couple listens.

For some reason this made me think of how I think some of the From Exile songs are superior to the Hello Exile versions, namely Anna and London Drugs, IF I take my favorite versions of each song from the two albums it then would create an absolutely perfect album in my opinion.

Alone in Dublin is the other one that sticks out after two listens

First impression is that I am completely whelmed. Production is great, guitar tones are pretty, and the lyrics… are their most anonymous.

obvs my opinion might change when I get the vinyl and can read along. But it’s a great fall album that I’m happy to slot into my rotation.

I had to look down at my phone when Ultraviolet started to see if a random song started playing haha - didn't recognize Greg for a second. Love how he sounds on this song

Dear lord Greg's vocals are so freakin' delicious on this album. The bridge of Alone in Dublin lyrically shouldn't work

    excuse my jingle jangle jargon
this melody won't rhyme with nothing
but clues of you and everything that I see

but the way he delivers it absolutely sells it.

Just finished first listen and as expected no Menzingers fan will be disappointed. They delivered, again.

It is natural to compare and rank to previous releases and my gut reaction tells me this won't land in the ATP/OTIP tier for me but it will be a solid staple in the Hello Exile/Rented World tier. And that is totally great.

There's so many neat production choices that were really necessary to freshen up their sound and push them in different directions. I think Greg's vocals are outstanding and really deliver. Just excited to spend time with this.

    Greg - 9 songs
    Tom - 4 songs

Two hours until this releases here, and I have a nice plane journey tomorrow to really let it sink in.

Pretty excited, but not expecting an OTIP/ATP level release. Give me 5/6 songs to chuck in on their Spring tour, and I’ll be happy.

Welp luckily I finished reading Pale Fire like a week ago because I can confirm the "artistically caged" line in Alone in Dublin is yet another Nabokov quote lol

Just finishing up Hello Exile. I really, really love this album. Gonna listen to After the Party next.

Excited to have new Menzingers to spin tomorrow.

I will listen soon but I don't really worry too much about any new Menzos album. It will be great, like all of them are
