RW was my favorite album that year (so was OTIP). I don't understand the unfavorable remarks for that album either. This band is great, maybe people have bad ears, idk! p.s. Any clue when an album announcement will be?

OTIP is more consistent and cohesive thematically, but CW and RW have higher highs and, subsequently, lower lows.

I was hoping the single for this album would be a Tom song since I love him equally with Greg but Greg has had the last four singles. But Tom does a great job with the deep cuts he's given.

Yeah I mean I get it. I feel that it's not very...dynamic. I think musically "Where Your Heartache Exists" accomplishes something similar while being more interesting, whereas "Transient Love" is more in the category of "the obligatory slow song on the record". Lyrics to both songs are great, I just tend to be drawn in by the music first and foremost

It's not even a slow song tho... it's over 100 bpm... if that's slow I don't know what to tell you

and it doesn't feel like the "obligatory" slow song, it's not like a power ballad.

To each their own. I'm relistening to it and, musically, it sounds to me like a Menzingers take on Coldplay/U2.

Transient Love is one of the most unique songs they written. Structurally it's more interesting than your average Coldplay/U2 song, it's much darker and more brooding than many other Menzos tracks. Plus lyrically it's one of the most crushing songs they've penned. It doesn't feel forced or obligatory, it's one of the most natural sounding songs on RW. It feels completely organic and sincere.

They ended up writing TL out of when they were just jamming didn't they? That song kind of just happened. I feel like it shows, especially with the repetitive drum beat in it.

Not to take anything away from the song by saying that though I love it so much

The songs on RW made a much more personal connection with me than any of their prior stuff

I'm in the camp that believes if any of the last 3 albums is your favorite then you're good.

If your favorite is A Lesson then idk different strokes I guess

If this album is "more of the same" then it's almost guaranteed to be my album of the year.

I can see The Menzingers being a band that always sticks close to their core sound with some minor changes and tweaks every now and then, and I'm okay with that. Thats pretty much what they are already, but still.

I think there are a few bands that do that, but continue to stay relevant.
I'd consider Jimmy Eat World like that to some degree

I think JEW and TWY and The National all do that really well and The Menzingers are another group to add to that category
