About to drunkenly yell these songs along with The Menz at a stage in the middle of the street in Phoenix.

My dad fucks with this band, Gaslight, Frank Turner, Butch Walker, and the Bouncing Souls. It's cool when parents can somewhat break out of their music bubble.

its hard to get my dad into shit sometimes cuz hes pretty picky about vocals, doesnt like anything that borders on or you know is screaming haha but yeah he really dug these guys. side note he also loved the shins

That's how my dad is haha. He definitely taps out on Nails or some of the hardcore stuff. The Shins are good for crossover to older folks for sure. Aside from early Bouncing Souls, I feel like the ones I mentioned, especially Butch do well with a variety of ages. Frank Turner does really well too.

may as well start with oh inverted world and go in chronological order, they have a pretty solid progression from album to album. chutes to narrow is my favorite and an all timer for me. but all their albums are fantastic.

My dad has pretty basic "dad classic rock" tastes which is cool, but I was digging through his cd collection last week because we were taking a trip and discovered that he fucking loves Flogging Molly and Dropkick Murphys which is nuts! Immediately handed over my Flatfoot 56 albums.

Sometimes I will play music around the house to try and get my dad to notice and make a comment, but he rarely does, haha. He did like a Sufjan record I was playing a while ago, as well as Julien Baker. Back before I had my license and he would drive me to shows he always really liked Letlive., and actually ended up buying a long-sleeve from them. A lot of people at the show would get a kick out of him walking around with his merch lol.

I've definitely played this album while I was making dinner a few times to try and get his attention, but to no avail.

Some of my dad's favorite artists are Shearwater, Kevin Devine, Brand New, Manchester Orchestra, Anberlin, Copeland, The Hold Steady, and Jimmy Eat World. He's never really gotten into The Shins, but he did run that last Broken Bells album into the ground when it came out.

He still goes to some shows with me (like Jimmy Eat World last week). It's really awesome to me. He really liked this album when I played it in the car, but I keep forgetting to burn him a copy of it.

My dad likes at least one or two songs by most of the artists I like. I pay for my family's Apple Music subscription and text them every Friday about new releases!

I expected my mom to like the 1975 more than she did. My mom is more Billy Joel and the Eagles, but listened to the radio a ton in the '80s so I expected a better reception.

My parents are into most of the music I like, particularly since I've started listening to more country and folk. We've gone to a few concerts together over the past few years, including Jason's Isbell (x2), Kacey Musgraves, and Dawes next Saturday. Actually, my entire immediate family (parents, wife, and siblings) are going to the Dawes show. Will be the first time we've ever done a full family concert.

I think the only thing I've ever played and it seemed like both my parents liked was Built To Spill's Perfect From Now On

My dad likes a couple songs from bands I like, specifically Clearest Blue by Chvrches and a couple songs by My Chemical Romance from TBP era, but he doesn't really listen to anything I like. He does pay attention to some of my favorite bands and knows how much I love Circa Survive, Jimmy Eat World, and Deftones so that's cool. My mom doesn't listen to anything I like either. I wish one or both of them did though
