the 3rd Matrix movie is truly awful. I didn't mind this, but I also think the overall "matrix aesthetic" is dated and corny

I used to hate Revolutions but 20 years of my brain rotting away got me on board with it

 

miss me with that shit

 

The most recent Matrix was fantastic and absolutely not what fans wanted, but so clever and well done

 

I think the wachowskis broke this franchise so deeply that it prevents a safe sequel from happening which rules

 

my Matrix hot takes is that the pacing and exposition of Reloaded and Revolutions would work a lot better in a miniseries than two separate movies, or even a combined movie (be it edited down or supersized)

 

Out of all the new films I've seen that released from 2020 to the present, this is, without hyperbole, in the bottom 3 out of a list of 70+ films

 

All the matrix movies are good, especially the 4th one

no Lana is whack, Goddard is probably a fine pick for something like this though

 

A lot of how people respond to The Matrix 4 comes down to how much people respect Wachowski as a filmmaker. They tend to also be Speed Racer apologists.

 

Out of the 300+ new releases of the 2020s I’ve seen I’d put this in my top 25

 

I was way more entertained by the mess of “Jupiter Ascending” than the last two “Matrix” sequels.

Ironic, because Speed Racer makes no apologies.

 

Im torn on this. I loved Resurrections, and if Keanu is coming back I'll need to check it out. But wasn't Resurrections one big satire about reboots and sequels? I'm guessing thats why the Wachowskis arent involved with this anymore.

That said, it's been 2 years since I last watched Resurrections, and my memory is hazy on it. Might need to toss that on again this weekend.

 

when i rewatched 1-3 before resurrections, i learned that i actually enjoy 2 & 3 more than most

 

saw 1 for the very first time in IMAX in December 2021, loved it - then watched 2 (cool and fine) and 3 (it was ok)

then I thought 4 was pretty good!
