V excited about this all, it most certainly will kick off my 3727th rewatch of the series.

 

the tony chris age gap thing is strange (mostly because it was never settled or '''made canon''' until now) but also at the same time kind of makes sense? this movie now basically confirms theres like a 17-18 year age gap between them, and if you told me in those first few episodes of season 1 that tony was in his early 40s and christopher was 25, i would believe you.

 

Having them so far apart makes some of their childhood stories a little strange, like when the two Tonys torture Chris at the farm. They always seemed to have more of a 5 year or so gap.

I always thought the gap between Tony and Big Pussy was more suspect. It seemed weird when he called Big Pussy his best friend when he grew up with Jackie and Silvio.

always assumed that pussy was like maybe 15 or so years older, but this makes it seem like more.

 

Vincent Pastore is 15 years older than James Gandolfini. I always assumed Big Pussy and Paulie were part of Tony’s father crew but after his dad’s death, Tony became the defacto boss because he was the best earner. Uncle Junior was the boss in name only because of seniority and he would be the prime suspect in the FBI’s investigation.

I always thought that the idea of Big Pussy and Paulie standing aside as Tony took over his father's crew a little odd. Paulie was getting ready to flip to the Lupertazzi family because Tony ruled against him once.

Gandolfini and Imperioli were five years apart. For men, keeping your hair and staying thin can make all the difference.

The reviews are pretty middling so far. I expected about as much because it is so hard to recapture that feel of the show.

 

Just read a few. I'm not really looking for an "explanation" or "origin story" to Tony and how he became who he is in the show (I'm pretty sure we already got that in the show itself). I'm just excited for more Sopranos-adjacent content from Chase, and this seems like it'll be that. I'm mostly excited to see Gandolfini's son reprise Tony's character as a young man.

 

i'm sure i will enjoy it but i don't think i anticipated this getting great reviews

 

the actor playing young sil in this is 16 years younger than michael gandolfini. wild.

 

The best reaction ever was my girlfriend, now wife, loving the sopranos when i showed it to her in like 2011/2012 and then surprising me with Bruce tickets and halfway thru the show seeing little steven and being like …………. Wait ……….. WHAT
