He also called them cowards when they wanted to shoot a scene for CGI instead of with the puppet. He’s a treasure.

Really appreciating the length of these episodes.

In the streaming era, oftentimes smart trimming of an episodes content goes by the wayside as they no longer have to get an episode to fit in 40 mins. While there are certainly times where this flexibility is a good thing and allows the producers to avoid rushing things, I find a lot of the time it also just makes stuff drag.

Literally my only complaint with this show is the characters referring to the baby with "it" pronouns. Like I guess this is a thing humans sometimes do with human babies for some odd reason? But its still ultimately a dehumanizing word choice and so targeting at an alien, even a baby one, felt kinda... jarringly racist? idk. it broke me out of my happy little star wars suspension bubble a bit. Would be one thing if was actually intended commentary that further developed the characters. But it was really just throwaway stuff and so me go "wait hold up why are they using that word that isn't right but they don't even care"

I feel like when it makes sense to use “it” when your bounty is a living being. For a bounty hunter, it shouldnt matter what the bounty is. If it’s a person, referring to them by “it” may help them maintain it as a business contract better.

    I dunno.

This is what makes it the best for me. I love their dynamic.

Finished the first episode this afternoon and it was fantastic! The western feel in a star wars setting is exactly what I was expecting from solo.

I have always loved this scene. It just hits me differently these days being a father myself and with my dad getting older.

Harrison Ford's "Yes sir" right after Sean Connery smashes the vase over his head always makes me laugh really hard.

Its been forever since I watched Crystal Skull, is he confirmed dead there? I know he’s retired in real life. I’m also not sure I want Indy 5 to be made tbh.

I would have SWORN that Crystal Skull was shot digitally, but I just checked and it was indeed shot on film. I think Janusz Kaminski - although enormously talented - was the absolute wrong choice as cinematographer for the film. That, combined with the large amount of CGI, made it not feel at all like an Indy film for me.

It is weird, because Kaminski is quoted as saying that he deliberately tried to emulate Slocombe's style for KotCS to maintain visual continuity, but to me it looks absolutely nothing like the first three. Maybe it is just the digital color grading down in post, which is admittedly something I am not very fond of at all.

alright i really really liked Episode 2. A smidge more than episode one. Flowed better and was just a really fun serial adventure. I cant say its really connecting with me on a deep level yet, but its still early and Im just having fun. The baby yoda storyline/Mandalorian culture aspects are def going to be my hooks and where I want the show to go (and hope it gets there soon), but im willing to have fun side adventures like this every once in awhile.

    Loved:
    - Baby Yoda eating that frog/lizard.
    - How Jawa heavy it was.
    - Felt like Favreau playin with his toys again.
    - Echo the disintegration love
    - The incredible CGI Beast. That was fucking movie quality.
    - Mando getting his ass kicked a lot.
    - Kuill and Mandos relationship
    - Lines like : "Im a Mandalorian. Weapons are a part of my religion." I feel like were seeing a dude who's feeling inadequate and desparate to attain this identity of what he perceives to be a "true" Mandalorian. Maybe because hes a Foundling and not from actual Mandalore. He's all about the Beskar to make his armor. Cant wait to explore this aspect more.

    Disliked:
    - How when Baby yoda used the Force instead of being swept away by the awesomeness of it my mind has now been trained to reflexively think of the fans who hate that Rey used the Force with no training and thinking about how they probably wont complain about it in this instance.

    Iffy on:
    - the score. Its definitely incredible but the instrumentation/more modern style is just something Im not used to for Star Wars yet.
