If I could just forget it

Applying logic to this show is silly.

I’d assume after the great purge they said the planet was inhabitable to keep people away and then built their own base and have been there for years.

I was obviously being hyperbolic by saying "4". Come on, now.

Gideon's team had control over the doors anyway so it's not like him closing the door really locked the deathtroopers out. He could have done the exact thing that he did without locking himself out of the exit. He wiped them all out in 10 seconds anyways which is exactly what he could have done by backing up towards the exit. I'm not literally suggesting that he turn around and run lol.

Yeah he probably could have just walked out while absorbing fire since he took a ton of shots and was completely fine anyways.
    I still liked it though.

This episode was solid, but I think the writing in the rest of the season prior to this let it down. We should have seen much more of a struggle to reunite the different Mandalorian factions throughout the season. It would have made Bo's "I surrendered" speech that much more impactful and the coming together of all these different groups that much more meaningful. It would have also given Paz's sacrifice so much more weight if we'd seen more than one scene of him struggling to accept the other Mandos. It just felt rushed in this episode.

I did love Grogu in the IG suit though. It was the best his comic relief has been all season. The TLJ Praetorian Guard cameo was cool too. Also, I'm assuming that was the mythosaur emerging from the surface? It seemed weird that no one seemed to acknowledge what it was.

I know I shouldn't compare this show to Andor, they are going for different tones entirely, but damn it's hard to go from how the imperials talk in that to the way they all talked in this one. I like the idea of that imperial meeting scene, but the dialogue and line delivery was way too cheesy.

If that episode still didn’t satisfy you then it’s probably time to move on. It rocked.

  8. Ya solid ep. Hopefully the finale sticks the landing. I've only really liked eps 2, 3, and now 7. Season has been a mixed bag.

Andor set the bar too high for these other SW shows. But Mando is going for something else than Andor, so I can forgive it a bit.

I mean, I thought it was a good episode overall. It was fun, had solid action, and definitely ramped up the stakes and plot, but it just would have been more impactful if it didn't have to do so much work that should have been developed in previous episodes.

    Huh
Rumors of KK forcing him to come back so soon feels all but confirmed now.

sure. But an irrelevant point. Like, I love Grogu, but I want him to be more than just a cute thing that reacts to things.

I am rewatching Rebels, and Sabine mentions that the Empire has been occupying the planet at the time. Like 10ish years prior to this show. That base or station has likely been there for years. Although, I don’t think the night of a thousand years had happened yet. So now I’m a little confused. Could be an error? Maybe on my part?

If you bought it, great. It came across as a poor decision and a waste of Paz. It wasn’t effective for some people. Hopefully next week is better.
    Sorry, I like thinking.
yea, fuck this nonsense. People are allowed to want better. And for me, I don’t hate the show or this episode. But there’s a lot of issues with this season. One season that’s all over the place quality wise isn’t enough for me to drop a show.

Like, I watched all of Clone Wars multiple times. Including the droid arc late in the show that’s pretty bad. But overall, the show is great.

It wasn't the Mythosaur. i think they're setting up Bo Katan to ride the Mythosaur and have a kaiju fight with that thing.

Honestly, none of them have been incredible to me. Def not 1 or 3. Maybe 2? Maybe 4? There’s not a standout to me.

That makes sense. I just assumed big dino thing = mythosaur. But it would have been super weird if no one was like "holy shit is that a mythosaur?".

I think 2-5 were all good to fine episodes. The premier and last weeks are the only ones that I thought were outright bad.

I think the problem with this season is the balance of the adventure-of-the-week-type storytelling mixed with a more abstract plot goal this time around. Seasons one and two had pretty simple goals. Season one: protect Grogu from Gideon. Season two: Return Grogu to the Jedi and protect him. Season three: reunify a fractured and scattered people who don't trust one another and take back their home world. It was easier to fit in side quests in the first two, but when you only have eight episodes, you don't have as much wiggle room if you're trying to be more ambitious with your overall plot.

Loved the Shadow Empire stuff. Really sets the table to open up the wider storytelling for later seasons and the other shows. The parallels of Moff Gideon and the Phase 2 Dark Troopers is perfect to the theme of the season. The Mandos, who all season have been discovering what it means to be a Mandalorian, are up against nameless/faceless versions of themselves who don’t have the history/culture and are literally just cool armor. Can’t wait for next week.
