"the Pershing scenes were likely designed to set up the rise of the First Order from the Star Wars sequels, and to explain how Emperor Palpatine was cloned in The Rise of Skywalker. Even if he’s right, and that’s exactly what they will ultimately do, do we really need to spend valuable time in what was the best Star Wars TV show explaining the backstory of the worst Star Wars movie?"

"I feel like my interest is being slowly killed for the sake of pleasing die-hards and expanding a universe."

I’m about to see the new Shazam, so I’m not reading that article yet. But cloning for the Empire (ultimately for Palpatine) is kind of the main story since the first episode. Or, at least, the main story for the Empire. That’s the whole reason they want Grogu. In s2, we know that Pershing needed Grogu to continue the research (for cloning). This isn’t a new aspect of the show, but it did get more focus than it has directly so far.

And we saw Din collect two bounties the entire show? Both of which were the first episode. The show has not been about bounty hunting since Grogu melted mando’s heart. Wait, he did do a bounty in BOBF. So 3 total, I think. And it appears there won’t be much bounty hunting going on this season based on what we’ve seen so far.

oh shit, I should have called the hotline.

I just think the less directly tying into Palpatine/skywalkers, the better. I'm an extremely casual star wars fan. I'm not gonna argue about lore lol

I mean, overall, I agree. Let’s move elsewhere. But this show has had the connection to Sheev from the first episode. Well, ever since they decided to bring him back for TROS, I guess.

I have been saying they need to go into the future beyond the characters we know for years. But this show is not gonna be the one to move past Palpy/Skywalkers. It never was meant to.

I couldn’t care less about the cloning stuff. I did care about Din and Grogu’s relationship, but that’s sort of been put on the back burner now.

I also can’t stand his new ship. I can’t imagine a more uncomfortable and impractical vehicle for someone who travels the galaxy on a regular basis.

I thought this last episode was pretty good, though a little jarring as it didn't quite feel like a Mandalorian episode, but then again, the show has been all over the place as far as tone goes. Sometimes it's been a monster of the week type deal, and then this one was definitely a slow burn episode (re)introducing new characters and setting up future plot points (which it has done a few times before). It reminded me more of Andor in that it was showing a grittier and a more lived in world. I have no idea how the filming and writing of the shows overlapped though to say that the Mandalorian has been influenced by Andor's critical success though (and it's not like the Mandalorian wasn't huge on its own, so they didn't need to mess with its feel and appeal).

Still, I have found all 3 episodes to be entertaining and intriguing so far and definitely look forward to it as a weekly watch.

Also as always, it's continued to have stunning set pieces and flight 'stunts'. The aerial battles of all the star wars shows have been a highlight (though nothing has topped the one in Andor).

You could just be a regular dude walking around, they were only coming out of the sewers one at a time. Then just put the armor back on when you go back into the sewer. They don’t know what each other look like anyway

  14. The worst thing to happen to entertainment is the need to connect everything. Not been feeling this season so far and not feeling where it looks like it's headed.

I personally really enjoyed this episode. I very much dislike the monster of the week type Mando episodes so I like how this is building to something. Also yeah the opening dog fight was dope

man, absolute 0/3 so far for me. only cool thing about this episode was the wreck of the star destroyer. i’m always gonna be a sucker for shit like that.

still hopeful that 5 episodes is plenty of time to get something going here.

This was fine. I hope the Armorer’s lack of any answers about a real mythosaur help keep Bo from fully falling into the cult.
