It's so weird seeing them play in an empty theater lol but this is very cool

Was awesome they played so many extra songs at the end, almost a 2 hour livestream. Well worth the $9.99.

 

Definitely stay on for the after party. Ted Lavender is something else.

I'm only seeing the soundcheck. I would guess they're encoding the video for the replay, but am I missing something?

Yeah I think that’s what’s going on. I was able to see the stream after it ended for a little bit but then it went back to yesterday’s stream. Whenever it’s up though, that’s where it should be.

 

Dang, I was excited to watch this when I got home tonight, and now I am impatient haha. Hope it's back up soon.

 

John said in an AP interview that 4 songs on the new record are co-written with outside people (first time since their second album) and it's gonna be very pop. Honestly, I didn't like YAO because it lacked the pop edge of the last 2 records so this might re-sell me on this band.

 

YAO had a lot of “pop” hooks. It didn’t come together as consicely as LLL but it’s up there. If this is American Candy with the strength of their recent songwriting? Immediate AOTY

I doubt we see the record before 2021 but I’d love to be wrong. I’m feeling March 2021, though (for reference: American Candy was March 2015, LLL was April 2017, YAOK was March 2019).

 

Whenever they're able to support it with a tour, they'll release it.

 

Right before Sad Summer 2021

 

The Chicago date of SSF has been canceled due to scheduling conflicts.

Not from the new record, but a new old song will be up on Pillar later today.

 

They've already said in an interview a few months ago that it's coming in 2021. My guess is that they're going to wait until pandemic improves so that they can actually have a proper tour to promote it.

Pat also said in this interview around 26:00 that there will be another project(s) released before the record, and that "What's coming out of John is on a whole other level than we've been at before." I'm stoked.

 

I thought I heard them mention something along these lines during the q&a portion of their livestream. John said something like “we recorded new music...and we’re going to record more new music”, and Pat said “yeah, I guess we can go a little into that” and then didn’t mention anything about it afterwards

 

Haha yeah, I think they've got a few things up their sleeves. If the pop rumors are true, I can't wait, and I know John won't disappoint with the hooks.

Unrelated, but I hope they never stop closing with Another Night On Mars. Makes me feel so cozy and happy.
