But hey who knows? they have Isildur being around before the rings of power were forged over a thousand years before he was born in the official timeline, so maybe they just said fuck it the istari do arrive thousands of year before they do in the book.

They're condensing the entire Second Age into like 5 years, right?

Haven't watched yet, but is Numenor a thing in the show or has it already "fallen"?

I thought meteor man was Sauron...?
Why would only one of the blue wizards show up and not both...??

The show is not sticking to cannon, so I think meteor man could be anything,

people complaining about the diversity are so fucking pathetic. I even overheard someone who loves LOTR saying they're not going to watch it because it's "gone woke". embarrassing.

I find that whole phenomenon honestly very fascinating but then also pretty disturbing a lot of times when you look at the real world ramifications of what people are saying. It takes what should be kind of a trivial and odd superficial detail from a book - like whether Legolas in the books has brown or blonde hair (it's brown ;-) ) or whether Balrogs actually have physical wings they can flap like a bird or bat - and wraps it up in all sorts of real world xenophobia and racism. Very strange.

exactly, I lose respect for anyone's opinion on the show if that's a part of their criticism. I just do not care what they think.

I think he meant people review bombing, not the show...

While it is terrible certain people are review bombing, suspending ratings isn’t a good look…

Just starting and I love that they instantly show why you couldn’t just fly the ring to Mordor on the eagles.

I wanna start this but with my knowledge of middle earth being completely contsined to the 3rd age, and House of the Dragon also going on, I don’t know if I wanna devote the energy and attention I’ll need to keep track of the story and characters lol

This is made with so much care and it shows. Had a smile on my face the whole time. Not quite sure where it’s going with some of the plots just yet, but that’s part of the fun!

I’m not sure how you tell this story without Numenor, but maybe they don’t have those rights.

Out of the various unfolding storylines in the first episode, I definitely found the Harfoot scenes to be the least engaging and interesting by a pretty good margin, but they absolutely hooked my attention with that ending and the meteor man thingy landing right on them.
