Ugh, hate that Lily is with Christine.

Besides finales, Nora episodes are always my favourites.

All caught up now. Wasn't a huge fan of the latest episode. The only parts I'm really liking so far this season is the Nora stuff. I think the weirder the show gets the less I like it. Season 1 felt a lot more believable to me despite the intial premise which made it a lot more interesting to watch play out. Still hopeful that the last few episodes will pull everything together well.

Nora episodes are the best. The Patti Jeopardy monologue is my favorite part of the show though.

I hate Patti so I really didn't care about her time on Jeopardy. Her sticking around was probably my least favourite aspect of season 2.

Grief makes people act in strange, senseless ways.

Yeah but what grief did they have? That makes some sort of weird sense for the people who initially joined the GR but I don't get it for those three. I wish we got some kind of motive for Meg too, I just don't understand what her character was trying to do for most of the show or why she was doing it. I was hoping we'd get that this season but then they just blew her up.

Meg was unhappy from the beginning. The girls, who knows. For Evie it's obviously something with her family situation. I don't expect people that live in Jarden are perfectly happy all the time. There could be dozens of explanations for why they did what they did. Erica didn't get an explanation, why would we?

I know Meg was unhappy, I just don't think that's a good enough blanket explanation to explain people doing ridiculous things.

They're definitely not happy all the time, they even put that bit in where her brother is talking about her crying in the bathroom, but there's no catalyst there. Its just a giant leap to me for someone to join a cult, leave their family and join a plot to destroy their town just because they're sad. There are a number of possible explanations I just want to know what happened because otherwise it feels dumb and unrealistic to me, I don't buy it. One of the only things I did like about Ghost Patti was that it gave some clarification to her as a character and why she acted the way she did.

I dont think its too much of a stretch considering what happened. Millions of people just dissappeared into thin air. The world (as they know it) ended. Didn't seem to me like they were destroying their town as much as forcing people to remember and relive what happened over and over, because misery (as they say) loves company. As for the rioting, i think there are plenty of people who would take any opportunity to riot

I'm only talking about the three girls from Miracle. The world didn't really change much for them.. I assume they knew the plan when they agreed to it and it seemed inevitable that if you let all of those people into the city they would fuck shit up.

A lot of people who didn't even lose anyone were still fucked up by it....especially if they had any religious background at all. Millions of people wondering if they were left behind in the rapture, wondering why, having that eat away at them, etc.

I understand that and that explanation works as motivation for a lot of people doing what they do on this show but that's not enough for me to buy what happened with those three girls or for me to be satisfied with that plotline. Same goes for Meg. It's cool if you're fine with what little explanation or character motivation we got I'm just expressing my disappointment in it.

Why is it unfun now? Just because I don't like something about the show?

Not that I disagree with you fully, but I do think those girls had motivation to do what they did. "The world didn't really change much for them..." I mean, their home got turned into a theme park essentially. It makes sense to me that they would want to destroy it?

I mean in the same way as everyone else. They didn't lose people. Obviously things changed. That absolutely could be the reason and even though I think it would be a dumb one, I'd be fine if that's what we were given but we didn't get an explanation at all which is my problem. I don't want to have to come up my own reasons for why they did what they did. I want to know what actually happened.

It's really just a matter of preference and what people care about knowing when it comes to TV. Obviously they can never explain and give context for everything but, to me, character motivations are very important. Especially when it's the centre of a major plot point like this and something that seems like an unnatural thing for that character to do. Obviously a lot of people in this thread don't feel like that information matters and that's cool too, the creators seem to agree.

Very fair, it's definitely an implied explanation rather than one that is given to us and I could see why that might be frustrating. I'm actually holding out for another Evie/Liv Tyler appearance in some form, probably when Kevin inevitably visits the afterlife again this season. So maybe you'll still get your explanation!

Could do! I feel like there should be but who knows, there's a lot to wrap up in only three episodes.

anything i don't really buy/accept the given motivation for with this show, i just chalk it up to extreme nihilism. but i think @SpyKi has articulated some pretty good arguments for his opinions and agree with quite a few of them.

I don't think the shows purpose is to explain literally everything that happens. Not everything has to be hyper realistic, for me
