For game players, there's one moment that i think they may change in the finale. Thoughts?

will Joel kill Marlene? That moment in the game shocked me with how cold Joel was, and my gut tells ne that they may soften that part and use Marlene a bit more in pt 2, though they havent reversed a major fate yet so maybe not

I think it will stay the same. Joel’s torture scene and his protective attitude at the end of the episode make me think it is all building for that “Anything for Ellie” kind of moment. I think removing it would be a let down, honestly. I also don’t think we need Marlene in s2.

    Maybe so, maybe not.

I don't watch movie trailers in general so I really don't understand watching "next week on..." previews when you plan on watching the show.

This will sound unhinged, but I often skip the previously on, especially for season long shows. Breaking bad was notorious for showing you previously on from like 3 seasons ago to remind you of what would be important that episode. I had more fun after I skipped those and just let myself be surprised and be like 'holy shit! they're bringing that back?! I totally forgot about that, that's a genius callback'. VS just waiting the whole episode for whatever was in the previously on to be tied into the plot (often at the end of the episode in a plot twist manner).

Everyone is different, it's subjective blah blah blah, but I personally find most viewing experiences are enhanced by the element of surprise.

EDIT: Way off topic for this genre of show, but the great British baking show is notorious for me as they have a 30 second teaser before the episode that often shows how the final bakes turn out then spends an hour trying to be suspenseful about if a certain baker will fail or succeed. It's like... you showed me before the show started what's going to happen, this cake is going to collapse. I skip all those too (via fast forward).

I'm the exact same way for both previously on and next time on. The specific moments they show from previous seasons/episodes just give away what is going to be addressed/shown in the episode I'm about to watch.

I watch the “next time” stuff if I am watching week to week. If I am binging, I skip it.

I always skip “previously on” unless it’s just at the start of a season and I haven’t watched the prior season(s) recently.

I feel like I skip 1000x every time I start an episode. I have to skip whatever promo for other hbo shows thar plays before, the previously on, the title sequence... like that's three skips. My finger can't take it

I’m somewhere in the middle of TLOU 2 and it’s so fun. Can’t wait to see it on screen, it will feel so much fresher than the original which i played when it first came out

As someone completely unfamiliar with the game, episode 8 felt pretty rushed to me. The only other time I really got that feeling was from the 3-month time jump right before they met up with Joel's brother at that town. This one felt to me like it could have used another 30-45-ish minutes to flesh out what was going on here. Still a good episode though.

I definitely think we could have used one more episode of Ellie and Joel traveling/developing their relationship whether or not people think that would have been filler. I loved the game and have loved the show but I do feel like the show is somewhat feeling rushed for some reason to me as well

I'm not saying this is a fault of the show and could be me going too long between watching episodes, but when the episode started off with David giving his sermon thing and then cut to him and Jimmy (maybe?) outside talking, it felt to me like I was supposed to know who these characters were and had just forgotten them. It took me a few minutes to figure out these were new characters.

Also, it was annoying me that they didn't sear the venison a little bit before chucking it into the soup because the meat looked so raw and gross. Everything kinda made sense in the end, but still.

I agree you should always sear your meat, human, venison or whatever.

Although, I should admit that when David talked about a scouting party of theirs going out and losing a member to a Joel confused me far longer than it should have. I guess because that happened two weeks prior.

Edit: shit I quoted the wrong post

I was a tiny bit thrown off by this too, mainly because he described it as a "town" and (I think) they were talking about the dilapidated college overrun by escaped feral science experiment monkeys.

Maybe that’s what it was for me, too. also, I felt like the group at the college was camped there for some reason. I didn’t associate them with a larger group for some reason. But it’s clearly not too far from David’s camp. But I don’t think it was snowy at the college? Was it? If it wasn’t, that also made me think it was further away.

Definitely took me a while to figure out who they were talking about. But like maybe your friends shouldn’t just attack people lol They made it seem like it was a tragic death or something

I know we're heading into the finale and this doesn't seem overly important, but I'm kinda curious what happens now with the rest of David's flock.
