An inconsequential shift as the continents drift.

I thought this was fine. I adore Melanie Lynskey but her scenes were kind of rough, it was a weird choice to have her exclusively talk about a character we've never seen and know nothing about (us non game players that is). I was honestly tuning out a bit

the rest was good but a tough sell after last week's literal masterpiece going back to the normal post apocalyptic thing, which was a worry of mine

Solid episode but it went by super quick since it was short. Hopefully the episode on Friday is a little longer

Felt like mostly a setup for new characters and next week’s insanity but good stuff. Good show.

Underworld and Matchstick Men were the last movies playing at the lil theatre in KC.

I haven’t seen Matchstick Men since the theatre but remember enjoying it a good bit at the time.

No comment on Underworld, but at least humanity was spared from the sequels.

I don’t remember when Sam and Henry show up in the game exactly, but I’m pretty sure it was in a random town down the line somewhere. Not that it matters much.

I just hope they can squeeze everything they need to in 5 episodes to good results. Since at episode 5 seems they are still just in Kansas City/Pittsburg. I have faith.

They did meet up in Pittsburgh. But I do not recall a backstory for Henry where he’s being hunted.

Good guy, but a bad dude

Henry was part of a group that was going through town and was hunted by the psycho fascists in Pittsburgh. If I recall right, him and Sam were the only ones to survive from the group.

    Ahh ok.

So I was listening to a podcast with the ceo of HBO and he says they would split the second game in to two seasons.

Literally don’t remember these Sam and Henry characters at all lol. At least I remembered that there *was* a Bill and a town he lived in. My recollection of the middle section of this game was just going from city to city killing stuff and Ellie telling jokes. So that part is accurate!

Really cool little part from the games that I’m glad was represented - the guy yelling out “they got Bryan!” Whenever you killed people in the game and someone else discovered their body, you would always hear a line of dialogue like that letting you know hey, that guy you killed had a name and a life and a family etc. It was pretty unique for video games at the time to not just have you running around killing nameless goons.

I do love the cut for cut scenes. For anyone who watched already, watch from 3:20:20 to like 3:23:30

Also, maybe my knowledge of physics is bad, but surely if Ellie shoots someone in the back and that person is overpowering Joel, the bullet would also nick Joel as well....right? Or am I over estimating how powerful a little hand gun is.

Good episode, but yeah, I didn't like Kathleen's character. Her voice was weak and timid during her speech about 'find and kill them all', so I'm not buying that's she captivated and controls that whole militia. There still was more good than bad though.

The behind the scenes do help as honestly, you could have made this an hour of killing assailants without a motive just the like the game. Literal obstacle and then humans obstacle you just plow through. I think the decisions of when to add story, and when not have been smart.

Next episode looks good too and pacing still seems on par, though again like the game, we'll have some 'fast travel' moments when you just have to assume nothing happened in the literal days or weeks that aren't shown.

59 minutes... there are some SUPER short episodes on this back half of the season - if what has leaked is true

The podcasts dives into Kathleen's character a little bit more, if you want to check that out.

Completely agree with that scene, felt just like the game which was definitely cool

  17. Def a setup episode, but I enjoyed it. Still thinking about that dude screaming for his mom before Joel kills him. Sheesh.

Can I just say how much it bothered me that they just didn't sleep in the truck? And instead chose to sleep outside?

I would sleep in the truck as I hate camping but, in the reality of the show, would the truck have provided much warmth or protection from attack while they were asleep? Seems like they could hear someone approaching and use the truck as a barricade quicker if they were outside instead of curled up inside?

Enjoyable episode but felt surprisingly superfluous after the 3 before it.

  21. that also seemed so bizarre to me haha, even if you sleep in the bed of the truck, at least you're lifted off the ground

pretty "chill" episode considering eps 1-3, but i'm assuming they wanted to give us an easy one to break up the devastation of ep 3 and what's coming in ep 5

When Joel asked Ellie what she meant by “it wasn’t the first time” and the lightbulb went off in my head and I fought off every instinct to immediately tell my wife about the DLC game.

the bed of the truck would be really uncomfortable. I think sleeping outside on the ground is the best option here.

My wife made the same comment. I just assumed it's more comfortable to actually be able to stretch out and lie down.

Seemed like Joel didn't even sleep anyways so it ended up not mattering.
