I wonder how many people are seeing the news and googling Abby to see what her deal is and getting hit with some massive spoilers.

if you haven't played the games, don't google her.

 

I beat the first one when it came out but never got around to part 2 because my backlog is always ridiculous. But someone on here spoiled it for me last year by not spoiler tagging it after like 2 episodes of the show aired.

 

I have not seen the original Abby concept art but this my be our answer to if Kaitlyn is going to bulk up or not

 

I really wish they didn't decide this because I spend too much time in places online that I hate and it'll only add fuel to the 'Abby had an impossible body type not only for a woman but also for an apocalypse' when they back out of going with that persona for the show.

It's also impossible to avoid spoilers as every site that is announcing the casting is spoiling who she is to the story in the article and some go outright and have it in the title like Kaitlyn Dever cast as the villian for Season 2.

You could probably make it work either way, but a non-jacked Abby feels weird to me. It's an important reflection of her character and a result of the trauma and helplessness she felt from her dad being killed.

I think they’re in full “it’s about telling the story in the best way” mode and I feel the being jacked component will be considered superficial and less important than finding the actor who can convey the heart and soul and spirit of Abby for this version of the story. BUT, as I’ve said before I’m sure, it would be pretty cool if they did go for it.

 

However, I fully trust in whatever decisions they make on casting and plot until I've seen something that ends up being wrong. I love both games, and I loved the first season of the show. They are separate but both great so I expect season 2 to also become it's own great thing alongside the game.

I do think it makes getting a part 3 game an issue, as I'm sure that Naughty Dog will have ideas from the show they may want to implement into the game blending the universes together, and maybe rewriting some game parts that already happened (and yes, I know people bitch that part II retconned part 1 but I disagree and have found no compelling arguments of that).

 

Just take comfort in knowing that we'll all be dead by the time Season 2 airs.

I feel like Dever’s natural warmth will make Abby more sympathetic and of course Ellie’s spiral into becoming a revenge-filled psycho even harder to watch.

 

If I as a betting man I'd place all my money on THAT incident happening episode 1.

Its the driving factor of our lil psychopath. It sets the tone for the rest of the season and explains motivations. End season 2 with the reveal of WHO Abby is.

I’m saying this now. There’s no way they do THAT thing 2 episodes into s2.

 

That's my same thought. Definitely doing it later in the season. But I won't lie, I'd love to see the reaction if it's done that early.

 

Most bad ass move would be to have it happen off screen between seasons and all the characters are like “Yeah. It happened. So what?” and they just chill and throw snow balls at kids on a playground for 6 episodes.

 

That would be crazy lol

Pedro is the big name this show is riding on yeah. But it's not HIS show, the show isn't about HIS journey. This is The Ellie Show, not The Joel Show. Golf happening in episode 1 (or 2) won't kill the show and I doubt the amount of people complaining would be much.

Especially this being a HBO/Max show and there's generations that were raised on GoT axing anyone anytime. Sure there's gonna be upset viewers but I doubt anywhere as vitriolic as Gamers. TV viewers are kinda conditioned to stuff like this imo.

If anything, I'd hope viewers become MORE invested in seeing the fallout and how much of an impact it leaves on Ellie.I think if we get episode lengths released as a batch like we did last season, and episode 1 is extremely longer than the rest (like 70-90 minutes).......yeah.


Also, Joel is still gonna be popping up on flashbacks remember
