Brandon Flowers of The Killers talked with The UK Times:

“This is the crisis I’m in,” he says, sighing. “The Killers are my identity and our songs fill the seats, but I’m more fulfilled making music likePressure Machine. I found a side of myself writing it that was strong. This was the guy I’d been looking for! I’m as proud of Hot Fuss as you can be for something you did when you were 20, but I’m not 20. So I’m thinking about the next phase of my life.”

Pressure Machine is in a league of its own. An extraordinary concept album. You can tell his passion is there.

Pressure Machine is a fantastic album. I’d love more like it.

Pressure Machine is an album that came straight from left field. I don't think anyone was expecting the band to take a turn like that, but my god, do I ever hope they continue exploring that avenue of music.

Quiet Town has become one of my favourite songs of all time.

Quiet Town is peak songwriting. I love how somber and emotional that song makes me.

Right?! That song really hits home for me, too. The lyrics in that song are like you said, "peak songwriting".
