Just passed out thinking about The War on Drugs opening for The Killers on a summer amphitheater tour next year. Take me there!

This album comes out December 31? Oof.

No. That’s a Thursday. That’s just a placeholder I believe. Signs point to a July release.

thankgoodness. Just saw the date on Apple Music and it deflated my excitement for a bit.

Personally I would agree with you, but we know it would never be the case.

    Strong disagree on that.

I like TWOD, but come on. The Killers are one of the best live acts around.

The War on Drugs are the better band. The Killers are more popular, more commercial success. But
None of their records are absolutely essential imo. A few really classic songs, big songs. But I’ll take every WOD record over every Killers record. Just preference.

I'm the complete opposite. And I really, really wish I liked War on Drugs more because I live in Philly but I would probably put at least 3 Killers records over A Deeper Understanding and Lost in the Dream.

I dig both bands, but the first two Killers records are very much essential.

I mean, if you're forcing me to choose, it's definitely The Killers, but I've never really thought of those bands as super similar. I like them for different reasons. TWOD are masters of atmosphere and guitar pyrotechnics. The Killers are an incredible pop-rock band with one of the best strings of singles that anyone's stacked up this millennium.

and their concerts are massive because they string the said singles together for 2 hours

Now that most of the band is gone, I wish The Desired Effect was released by The Killers. I really want to hear those songs live at a Killers show

Any band following even half the energy of this would be on a suicide mission.

Had never thought of this before but now that you bring it up I can't stop wishing that this was the case. To take it one step further, if The Desired Effect could completely replace Battle Born that would be my preferred Killers discography.

Battle Born to Desired Effect is about as good as a back-to-back via different "projects" that you can get. It'd be like if Brian Fallon put out Elsie right after '59 Sound or Phoebe Bridgers put out Better Oblivion Community Center right after Stranger in the Alps.

The Desired Effect is a way better Killers album than Wonderful Wonderful is.

I wonder why he made that a solo record, actually

The Desired Effect is a through-and-through solo record. I’m actually more surprised Wonderful Wonderful wasn’t Brandon Flowers solo LP 3 than I am that The Desired Effect wasn’t a band record. The new songs sound a lot more like what I would associate with “The Killers.”
