The Killers - Imploding the Mirage (August 21, 2020) Album

This is extremely exciting. Hoping more songs are along the lines of Run for Cover / Tyson v. Douglas. Also announced a UK stadium tour with Blossoms, Sam Fender and Manic Street Preachers for next June.

I dig their singles and a couple of the other songs from their past few albums but I haven’t really been into a full album since Sam’s Town.

 

Their last album was super hit or miss. I hope this next one brings back some of the magic

Thought Dave's solo album was really good, but it'd also be cool if he and Mark were back in the fold.

Ready for this. Cannot wait. That should be the artwork, "NOT OFFICIAL ARTWORK" text and all.

Forgetting the absurd fact that they chose to leave the song "The Desired Effect" off of the album The Desired Effect, as time has gone by I have just fallen more and more in love with what Ariel Rechtshaid and Brandon did together on that album, and I was very excited by the prospect of him producing the upcoming Killers album. That dry erase board they posted a while back kinda made it look like he only worked on one song. I know that is in no way definitive or official. I like Wonderful, Wonderful a lot and think it has a lot of cool songs on it, but TDE is the better album.

 

I haven't really enjoyed anything since Sam's Town.

Sam's Town though is a true classic. Love that record.

 

I'm like 95% sure that I consider Battle Born to be their best album. It's just so goddamn great. But then their debut is so fucking amazing. I love Sam's Town and I can completely understand people saying it is their best album, but for me it falls just short of being a masterpiece simply because I think some of the b-sides and tracks that didn't make the cut are better than some of the songs on the second half. I think I have listened to Day & Age the most out of their albums, and I probably enjoy it the most, but again in my mind a few of the amazing b-sides are just part of the album. To me, Wonderful, Wonderful is really their only album that I couldn't completely understand someone saying is their best, which I suppose means I consider it their weakest.

 

I’ll give Wonderful another spin and see if it clicks.

 

“Rut” is a top 5 song of theirs for me.

 

“I’ll climb and I’ll climb”. I love that part

 

Wonderful Wonderful might actually be my favorite. It’s helped me through a lot of hard times.

 

Suddenly feel like this is going to be a concept album about a night in the casino or something.

Technically I like The Killers, when really I tend to only like 1 or 2 songs off each album. "The Man" was my jam

I could really use more of Ronnie Vannucci's side project, Big Talk

 

I used to tell people I like the Killers but now it's just easier to tell people I like Hot Fuss/Sam's Town as they are the only albums that have lasted beyond their initial release for me. There's some songs off each following album I might like but this is where my fandom tends to sit with The Killers in 2020.
