I know it's weird. Someone shouted for it in Birmingham too. I would have liked Settle the Scar.

 

What were the Goodness songs that basically got written in the studio, does anyone remember? I think there were 2?

 

There's a quote by Ralph Waldo Emerson that reminded me of this album, I have to see if I can find it bc it seems like something that could be related

 

I love that song, but I respect that the band don't really want to perform it live anymore. Those people probably didn't get the memo

 

Mostly I just mean, like, THATS the rarely played song you wanna hear? Guess I've just never seen anyone list it among their favs

 

I agree, of all the songs they might not play, Housebroken seems like a really weird one for people to yell out for. However, can't really rip on people for it too hard, because unless they follow the band suuuuper closely (like how we do on forums / reading a lot of obscure interviews), they would have no idea.

 

Housebroken is a favorite among all my irl buds, myself included

 

Definitely a whatever track between all me and my irl friends

 

I feel like it's pretty easily on a lower tier than the rest of the album (& their discography tbh). But I also think dendron is one of the weaker songs on home so. But home is also my fav album so.

 

Housebroken is the only song in their discography I'd call lyrically weak, but it's musically great

 

Yeah exactly, the average fan doesn't know the connotations behind it. Which doesn't mean they should play it at all, but if a fan likes it and wants to hear it it's not a biggie. Maybe they'll look up why they don't play it and learn something

Dendron is a top 3 Hotelier track for me. And honestly one of my favorite songs ever, period.

 

I also legitimately have no clue how it's an anti-cop song when it's pretty easily read as an abusive relationship but hey I didn't write it

 

Cops are abusive and the general public still worships them. That's how I see it

 

Yeah lol I know I'm weird for this one. Not sure why. Like I said, it's my favorite album so I still do really love every song. The second half is the song is absolutely perfect tho

I'm assuming, (sort of) knowing Christians politics, that's the way they see people's relationships with cops

 

I get that to an extent but I feel like there's no way to get that reading without context of knowing his political views (which I p much fully agree with for the record)

Idk, my girlfriend and I both love the song and having both been in abusive relationships in the past I think the words ring potent and true with that reading and I can't really say I see how it could be offensive or misconstrued really. That being said, when I see them there are just as many songs I'd love to hear so I'd never rally to hear it live. Just think it's sad to disown a great song from a great catalogue when I feel like it resonates with a lot of people.

 

Well yeah that's why I think it's their weakest lyrically the concept doesn't come across clearly without explanation

I would like to hear setlle the scar again, seen them 4 times and only heard it once
