It's been awhile since I've seen it but how is it a metaphor for that?

    spoilers

i would have said the imagery alone might be a stretch especially given how much Raimi loves gross-out body fluids, but several characters also make reference to her having been heavy as a child and eating away her problems, and there are too many shots fixating on food, how much she wants to eat, and how little she eats currently for it to be unintentional

edit: as well as the demon calling her pork queen, and she tells Stu to get his "pork knuckles off my desk," which doesn't mean fingers but actually the fatty part of the foot aka the ham hock, another word used to denote obesity

There was a picture of her being obese as a child standing in front of a sign that said Swine Queen. That was the point where I noticed the food fixation.

Probably the 3rd time I saw it, I was like this might be one of the most depressing movies I've ever seen.

I've watched it every Halloween for years. Always try to find someone who hasn't seen it to watch with.

I wanted The Ring on VHS so bad. Idiot me never did it.

I think Blair Witch Project is mandatory horror. It gave birth to a huge genre.

What was the consensus on Holidays , and Darling? Both are on Netflix.

So last weekend I was able to convince my fiancée to watch The Conjuring, and today It Follows. I'm slowly inducting her into the genre. She detests gore/violence so it's hard. She liked Prometheus so next I hope she'll appreciate the slower, and better pace of Alien.

Watching The Blob remake right now. I feel like it's an underrated gem. Starring Kevin Dillon and Shawnee Smith. Co-written by Frank Darabont. I love the small-town feel that was present in the B-movies before it. Plus the practical effects totally hold up.

That was one of my favorites when I was a kid.

The Monster Squad, Fright Night, and The Lost Boys are the other 80s horror films I watched all the time.

    Doing fine. Prestigious

I watched both of these a couple days ago. Darling was the better of the two imo. Brisk run time was a plus, I don't think it would have held up any longer. Holidays was fine, some of the segments were awful, only a couple struck me as being good. The segments are varied in tone, so I'd imagine it'll have at least one thing for everyone.

I'm kind of surprised about the Lights Out reviews I've read. Mainly about the pacing of the movie was bad and the acting was terrible besides Bello.

That's a good move there. Sci-fi horror is a great entryway into horror in general. The idea that "this is scary but it's in space so I'm safe" comforts people lol.

I thought Drag Me to Hell and My Soul to Take were the same movie for like five years, so I never watched either. It wasn't until I learned that DMtH was a Raimi movie - and was in fact not the film that got awful reception - that I checked it out and loved it. Still haven't seen My Soul to Take.
