I saw the new Grudge this morning, I was bored out of my mind. Nicolas Pesce is definitely capable of better.

The Grudge sucked but there were some unintentionally funny parts and my gf and I had a great crowd. Our theater was dying like the last 30 minutes

I wish my crowd would have been better. It was dead silent the entire movie (which is preferred for most stuff, but with The Grudge, I'd have taken any kind of extra stimuli)

yeah I did the dumb thing of seeing it at 11 am, so there was maybe 5 people in the theater other than me. So quiet and boring.

Rewatched Texas Chainsaw 3D out of boredom. The story and CGI is so fucking bad.

Dracula is a great take on the character. Definitely has that Sherlock vibe with some dark humour and gory plotlines. Yet to watch the last episode but 1 and 2 tie in really well. Quite surprised how much I liked it.

Whenever I try and make sense of the timeline, it destroys my brain. It was ironically released 7 years ago today, it popped up on my timeline earlier lol

Whoa, really? I just saw it on Prime and figured “I barely remember anything about this”.

It’s embarrassing how many times I’ve seen it.
It feels like they filmed the movie chronologically then ran out of money towards the end because that CGI is unbearable. I dig the brutality and practical kills I’d say up until the cop in the house gets it. It really starts to show the moment Leatherface throws the chainsaw at the screen. I loved the 3D when I saw it in the theater.

  15. Happy to report I absolutely adored Ready or Not. I already had high expectations, but the tone was perfect and the movie was virtually nonstop action after the first 15 minutes or so. Just a blast in a literal sense. More like this, please.

  16. Also, Prince of Darkness was surprisingly high-concept. There were pacing issues in the first half, and the characters aren't given much to do in between kills, but it checked all of Carpenter's best boxes - atmospheric, visually disturbing, scored to perfection. The dream sequence was super unsettling, and the ending was perfect. As for his Apocalypse trilogy, I didn't love it as much as The Thing or In the Mouth of Madness, but it's definitely worth the watch. The longer I thinking about it, the more I like about it.

Return of the Living Dead Part II was about as good as you could expect lol. Nowhere near as good as the first, but plenty of dumb fun to be had.

I just read "Late Returns", a Joe Hill short story from Full Throttle. So good. Not scary, but uses horror as a really cool vehicle for storytelling.

Not horror, but adjacent enough to the stuff we talk about in here: watch Monos. Tense, unnerving, and very good

This played in theaters near me for about 2 days and then I heard nothing else about it. Seems cool though.
