I thought Billy was being framed when we first saw the cell phone, then as the story went on, I realized he definitely had to be the killer. I knew all along it wasn’t the dad. The twist was still incredibly well-done. The film as a whole is a brilliant tribute to horror, and that scene when Stu and Billy are hacking each other is disturbing in the best way.

  6. I saw it for the first time recently as well. I didn't see it coming but I also wasn't surprised but I can also appreciate how mind blowing it must've been when it came out.

I was skeptical and uninterested until I saw that Pesce was at the helm. The Eyes of my Mother was one of the most brutal and beautiful films I've seen in quite some time. Also will give a fair shake to anything Raimi is behind (and I hope this goes down an Evil Dead remake-type path). Andrea Riseborough in a lead role also adds to the potential. I'm in.

Was too drunk to reply last night but definitely. The intruder was also a great reveal. I can’t remember the actor’s name but he’s good in everything he’s in. I think the first time I saw him was on L&O SVU

You’re right! John something or other, I forget his name at the moment. He’s been great in everything I’ve seen him in.

I love Stu’s character. I feel like his performance makes the whole thing that much more real

Watching From Dusk Till Dawn for the first time as we speak. That opening scene was something else.

From Dusk Till Dawn was a trip alright. I love how if you went into this completely dark you'd have no idea during the first hour that this even was a vampire film. Didn't expect the back half to be so over the top, but that was a blast.

Decided to finish the night off with Haunt. That was fucking fun. Exactly what I wanted it to be.

The ending wasn’t quite as strong as I hoped it would be, but the rest of it was so much fun that I’m able to look past that.

I also love haunted houses and escape rooms, so this was right up my alley lol

I’m pissed Haunt didn’t get a proper theatrical release. I feel like this would have been so much fun to watch with an audience

  23. Just watched The VVitch. What an incredible viewing experience. Looking forward to seeing The Lighthouse, hopefully tomorrow!

I'm trying to come up with something compelling to say comparing the recent directorial debuts in "prestige" horror (The VVitch, The Babadook, Get Out, Hereditary), but ugh, idk, I just love them all so much--except Hereditary; it's too scary, I want to delete it from my mind. Us and Midsommar were also fantastic follow-ups; I fucked up missing out on The Nightingale when it was in theaters.

I didn't like horror just a few years ago. This thread is a bad influence.

    I Miss Jake W Prestigious

when i recommend movies to my friends they automatically assume it’s a horror film. that’s why they’re avoiding Parasite because i love it a lot

zombieland 2 was hilarious. not amazing but it was super fun. further proof that adding Zoey in anything makes it automatically better.
