Started the season off with first time viewings of The Fog, Invasion of the Body Snatchers (1978), and Prom Night.

Loved The Fog, found it at the thrift store for a dollar so had to get it. It's not quite up there with Halloween and The Thing, but a close third. Invasion... impressed me so much, did not expect it to be so good in every aspect. Prom Night was the exact opposite, boring, confusing, there are no kills for like the first hour and when they finally start they are terrible. Wasn't expecting much but I thought it'd at least be so bad it's good.

I don't think there's any question about that. I think there a few in the series I enjoy over the first but part 2 is absolutely a much better film than the first.

  3. About halfway into What Lies Beneath; I keep getting distracted. Anyway, this is another one that I vaguely remember freaking me out as a kid. Kind of slow so far.

3 episodes into Marianne. i like how it feels like a YA novel, some Nancy Drew type thing going on. even the dynamic between emma and cam shows it (adventurous protagonist with voice of reason/hesitant sidekick)

which is obv intended given they’re matching lizzie in the novel to emma in the real world

The newly started series is a lot of fun. Pretty low budget but tons of little nods to the originals and easter eggs. Most recent two were pretty corny and silly but I think it does a good job of keeping the spirit alive. Hoping for some darker and more serious stuff also though in the coming weeks. Also wish the creep himself wasn't so animatronic and silent :/ but whatever I'm into it overall.

Decided to try something newer for today and picked Hell Fest. Now sure, it isn't going to win any brownie points for originality or for being all that scary but I did nonetheless find it enjoyable and fun enough with the setting, cinematography, score and a few tension-filled scenes being particular highlights.

  14. good performances, but 2 slow, 2 long, & not 2 spoopy. idk why I remember being so terrified of this movie. Maybe I just hadn't been desensitized to scary imagery at the time. Was it the ghost in the bathtub that haunted me? The corpse in the lake? If anything, it's Ford's character that's scary; the benevolently vengeful ghost was looking out for Pfeiffer's character the entire time. Anyway, yeah, I think this could've been about half an hour shorter and more efficient with its exposition. Nice ending, though.

we've seen the shadow of the axe before Supporter

This movie scared the hell out of me as a kid. I still really enjoy it to this day though.

Still amazes me that they somehow spent $100m on making that.
