  2. I can be interested in certain films in the genre without being a fan of the genre. I've enjoyed a lot of the horror films I've seen (because I'm super picky about it) but I don't usually seek out horror films.

I'd say I'm a fan of superhero movies. I've gone to see in theaters most MCU movies over the past few years, and I've streamed the ones I've missed, but I haven't liked every single one of them.

  3. Ugh. Super hero movies are the worrrrrrst.

I find myself seeking out horror movies more than anything else. Except recently I’ve been seeking out trashy reality tv more than I should be admitting to... but really, it’s just a different kind of horror.

oh my god, I'm back on my bullshit Prestigious

Always surprises me that adults enjoy the MCU films lol

  5. Look, I personally like to shit on superhero movies as much as the next guy, but I'm not gonna shit on someone for liking them when my recent intake has been Star Wars and the Chucky films. No reason not to welcome someone in here.

  6. Would be interested in hearing what recent films caught your interest!

Eh. I was just confused why someone who doesn’t really mess with horror too much was in the horror thread. He explained his reasons well. I love mcu not sure why that got brought up. Carry on thread

  10. For contrast. I tend to like the horror films I see because I'm picky. I tend to see every superhero movie even though I may end up not liking them.

I think you’d really like The Conjuring. It’s absolutely a classic of the decade and manages to tell an archetypal story in a way that still felt new and necessary.

As mentioned, the first Conjuring was awesome! The second not so much

The VVitch was awesome as well. I personally thought it was better than Hereditary.

    I was right. Prestigious

you gotta check out It Follows

  15. Raw is so good. I still need to see Happy Death Day 2 U.

Is prestige horror just, like...artsy horror? Lol

  16. Seconding the It Follows rec for sure. Those A24 films are great, don't get me wrong, but a lot of them check similar boxes, which is why I'm left preferring things like It Follows and Get Out. Films with a little more humor that don't feel so boxed in by their tone.

  17. The VVitch and It Follows have definitely been on my watchlist. Hereditary scarred me, so I haven't been in much of a horror mood since. I'm SO ready to see Us, though.

haha probably? Makes me feel kinda snobby but it fits.

I feel like I mention this every time it’s brought up in this thread, but It Follows is probably my favorite movie. I love every little thing about that movie

  19. I know it's probably short-selling it to call it "Carpenter Worship" but that is 100% my shit

I aIso low-key loved The Void, so take that with a grain of salt I guess

I can't do jump scares, if I even see a trailer for one of those movies I am like please stop scaring me I can't handle this, so prestige horror is usually all I can do because it tends to be more atmospheric

I've shown It Follows to several people, none of which liked it. Or if they did, they didn't love it. And i'm still like

An inconsequential shift as the continents drift.

and Resolution, which imo should be watched before The Endless and also the best of the three
