I don't know anything about Bird Box so it's crazy how much buzz it's getting. I'll be glad to check it out once I read the book

I’ll end up watching it this weekend. People like it keep comparing it to The Mist and The Crazies, which I love. People who hate it compare it to The Happening, which makes me very worried haha. It’s such a divisive film, I’m too intrigued to not see it.

I liked birdbox. The ending was meh but I kinda expected it to be. Otherwise I thought it was a nice Saturday in my pjs watch.

  6. The Mist is still one of the worst largely acclaimed horror movies I've ever seen

Is it that acclaimed? I know people talk about the ending a lot, but I feel like most reactions I’ve seen are just sort of standard lukewarm opinions. I agree though, it is incredibly flawed.

With The Mist, they did a good job releasing a movie with one of the most devastating endings around Christmas

I can't understand hating Birdbox. Could've done without MGK, and some of the other filler characters, but it wasn't terrible.

Honestly, maybe casual movie-goers might link it to movies like The Happening and the like, but it also stands on it's own with the structuring of the movie as well as the actual threat itself. There were some great tense moments, and then the ending felt a little flat but I think it was decent enough to recommend to other people.

  11. Eh, I can't hate a movie I haven't seen (unless there's whitewashing or something, which isn't the case here), I'm just verrrrry disinterested.

  17. It's hovering around 70% on RT, which doesn't mean much, but I feel like most people I talk to online and in person love it. And I do think the ending had a lot to do with if, which is silly. The acting and the dialogue are just so, so bad.
Hoo boy. Buckle up. Jason Goes to Hell is near-incomorhensible but a lot of fun to watch. Jason X, on the other hand...yeesh.

I don’t think I’ve ever heard a single person mention anything about it OTHER than the ending. And yeah, it’s super memorable and dark but definitely doesn’t redeem the whole thing. I still need to try the Netflix version.

I loved The Mist. Going into knowing it’s a low budget (i think) King adaptation, I didn’t have any sort of high expectations with the acting. I also saw it in black and white the first time, which I feel like really helped with the poor cgi. I enjoyed the themes of the film, watching people break down to baser instincts in a time of survival. Latching to religion. But for sure the ending is what stands out. It pretty much floored me and left a huge impact for what would have been an otherwise average to above average film.

Marcia Gay Harden is a treasure but she was so miscast in that.

The Mist is a great “drive-in” movie. Its cheesiness is part of its charm. I love all the broad characters and their conflicts with each other. The black and white is amazing
