Watched Pet Sematary for the first time tonight. I showed my wife the trailer for the remake and she was like “oh the first one scared the shit outta me as a kid”, to which I replied that I’d never seen it. So that sealed our movie choice for the night.

  2. Quick update on my Friday the 13th run-through, A New Beginning was interesting in how excessive its kills and nudity were while simultaneously trying to switch up the plot, but overall, not one of the franchise's best. Jason Lives (Part VI) was fucking awesome, may be the only truly innovative F13 film in how self-aware it was for the time. Just a blast to watch, from its kills to its jokes and even its action sequences. Probably ties with Part 3-D for my second favorite. The New Blood (Part VII), while doing something new for the series, is probably the worst installment yet imho. Loved that In Voorhees We Trust got Anthony Jeselnick on the podcast to defend that film though.

Trying to decide between a Netflix double-feature tonight (probably Tales of Halloween and Terrifier) or Jason Takes Manhattan and Candyman.

Now they're showing the second nightmare on elm st and I'm so sad I'm a sick mess who is going to bed early instead of watching this iconic gay metaphor film

I’m super excited to watch it. One of my most anticipated for the remainder of the year. Unfortunately I’m on day 1 of 6 in a row for work so I won’t get to put it in for a while :(

  5. And this may be because I just did a podcast on the original, but...I am not sold on that Pet Sematary trailer. As flawed as the original film is, this doesn't look like it's going to bring anything new to the table aside from random kids in creepy animal masks, and let's face it, Fred Gwynne's performance is iconic. Some of the shots look like they could've been lifted directly from the original, and if I'm being honest, I'm not a fan of the lead actor. Obviously would love to be proved wrong though!

I actually really, really like the original Pet Semetary, despite its flaws. I’m hoping this new adaptation will be good! The trailer didn’t make me like, super excited, and the April release date has me leery. But I’m hoping for the best.

I will say though, the “sometimes dead is better” delivery in the trailer was very disappointing

PS2 is pretty great too. Haven’t seen it in forever but that bike kill is gnarly

loving the recaps. I'm doing my Halloween rewatch now and probably Friday the 13th to follow and then Nightmare.

I've been looking at that Tales of Halloween every time I go on Netflix, I should really just watch it haha

I saw Hell Fest last night. not scary, but I thought it was solid slasher fun. enjoyed the characters, they felt like real friends, and the twist on the killer was rad. maybe would've been better as a direct to stream, but I had a blast seeing it on the big screen. it was me and two elderly ladies who love horror in the theatre and we became friends laughing and reacting to the movie. probably one of my most fun times I've had at a theatre haha.

I’ve only seen Pet Semetary once as a small child, my cousin and I discovered the VHS at our grandpa’s house and thought it was just a movie about cats and dogs cuz it had pet in the name. I remember nothing from the movie except being absolutely terrified

I have a huge dead animal phobia and thatmovie legitimately scarred me for years. I watched it way too young but I could handle most of it pretty well. Then that happened...

Wow, it took me watching a couple times and going “why doesn’t this look quite right” to realize this is a skit and definitely not from the movie lol
