i always smile appreciatively at the goodwill of trying to get the kid in the wheelchair through the woods, at night, while fleeing a terrifying situation. and then i also shake my head and smile at how fucking stupid a person must be to think that's a good idea while fleeing a terrifying situation.

agreed. i hate how this works for every genre. there's times i wish i would watch movies chronologically so i could experience what was "new and amazing" in *insert year here* and mimic how people at the time felt about seeing something new. instead i'm like, "oh that scene from Heat was just a much better interpretation of what they did in XYZ 20 years ago. oh and that was new and snazzy back then? huh. who would have thought. anyways."

I’m pretty forgiving if anyone isn’t a horror fanatic and can’t tell what’s influenced by what. It’s an acquired taste, and for those who get easily scared I think they do their best not to remember details.

However, there are no exceptions when it comes to Halloween/FT13th.

Texas Chain Saw Massacre is fucking brilliant. I always say it’s more an art film than anything. some truly gorgeous shots. one of my favorites

I appreciate CM in where it stands in horror history, and definitely some beautiful, twisted, artful shots, but has never been one I ever cared to revisit or delve into further.

A weird movie but it always reminds me in terms of the story and the way it’s shot Cannibal The Musical

Sucks that The Nun isn't getting good reviews as I have liked three of the four films so far in the Conjuring Universe and I also somewhat liked the directors (Corin Hardy) directorial debut.

Watching Dawn of the Dead (2004) right now. I started laughing when I saw Michael Kelly, had no idea he’d be in this lol

I’ll defend Let Me In til my dying breath haha. It was effectively done and tonally closer to the book. I’m in the minority that feels it was the better of the two, but they’re both so good it’s only ahead by a hair.
The one thing that set it apart from the original is (spoiler from the book too) is that the book really presents the relationship with more ambiguity. Is Oskar being manipulated into believing Eli loves him? Is all this a just method for her survival and Oskar is just another caretaker in a long line of men? Lindquist did kind of ruin that possibility with a follow up short story, but still. The relationship between Owen and Abby reflected that much better.

I'm going to see it tonight. I like the Conjuring films so was always looking forward to this. Didn't really expect it to get great reviews though.
