Motel Hell has never done me wrong.

 

Have you ever watched Never Sleep Again? It's the documentary about the series and in my personal opinion, it's one of the greatest documentaries about film ever made. It's four hours long and it's full of all kinds of stories and trivia about the series. You really get an appreciation for it after you learned just how much work went into making those movies come alive with the limited budgets they had to work with.

 

I'm going to watch that, plus I found a box set of the series secondhand that has a bonus DVD called The Nightmare Series Encyclopedia which I'm looking forward to checking out

 

Is that the New Line Platinum Series box set? Great set, I still prize it. Wish I knew what happened to the 3D glasses that came with it. But yeah, watch that doc but after you watched the series as a whole. It's a great companion to it.

 

Yep that's the one. Weirdly mine was missing the 3D glasses too

 

It's like in a white envelope that's easy to lose so don't feel bad. I'm sure I'll find it one day. Maybe. If anything, you'll at least save your eyesight instead of trying to sit through that 3D sequence in The Final Nightmare.

 

Plus, I'm pretty sure that Encyclopedia disc is this weird game that makes you memorize where to go or it kicks you right back to the beginning of it. Kinda like that shite one in the special features disc for HP: The Chamber of Secrets DVD.

 

Haha I've always wondered what that Nightmare Encyclopedia DVD was, I've been tempted to rent it a few times assuming it was a documentary

 

Yeah they left the envelope in but it was empty.

There are actually walkthroughs online for the bonus DVD. I wonder if it's worthwhile

 

I wish it was. Like it's still cool and kinda fun considering it's making you work to watch stuff but it's a total slog to get through if you don't have a guide for it. That whole set is def an interesting time capsule of early 00's DVDs, in which the studios just stuffed those discs to the gills with special features. I kinda wish they kept that up to be honest, thank god for Scream Factory and all the other imprints keeping that alive.

 

Don't think so. What did you think of seeing him, did it take away from the mood?

 

Watched a little holiday themed horror anthology titled Holidays...was awesome with the exception of Kevin Smith's segment and his horrible acting daughter.

For some reason though, Thanksgiving isn't represented and you could argue the reason could be it isn't an international holiday...but neither is Mother's Day or Father's Day, both of which are represented here.

The stand out segment is easily St. Patrick's Day.

I need to rewatch the Halloween series, I feel like I've seen I, II, and Resurrection numerous times, but the rest only once.

 

i have seen some of it on netflix, but i need to sit down and watch it in its entirety

 

Eli Roth already tackled Thanksgiving

 

Yea but every other movie covered Halloween and Christmas.

Eli Roth's wife was the main character of the New Years Eve segment.

 

I preferred seeing the boots/hand only, but seeing the full figure didn't take anything away from it.

 

We're putting out a Collector's Edition of The Thing later this year, art and bonus feature details coming in the next week or so

 

Watched The Woman today. Pretty fucking wild.

 

LOVE that film.

 

I literally gasped with joy when I saw that post on FB.

 

Do it! It's what I feel is required viewing for any fan of the series.

Eh, do we really need a new origin story though? Stick with the original one, it works just fine the way it is.

 

After watching most of the series I found that the ones that keep it simple are a lot better than the weirder ones. I guess that just means I didn't like 7-9 though
