What's the consensus on the upcoming The First Purge? I liked the 2nd and 3rd ones but I don't I know any of the actors in the new one... plus its weird its the only major new release for 4th of July, which is usually reserved for a proven blockbuster

  2. I'm not sure about that, but I do know she agreed to H20 a) as a thank you to the fans and b) with the caveat that they had to kill Michael, which they immediately backtracked in Resurrection lol

I'm excited to revisit the Zombie films. The first one was a genuinely scary movie for my friends and I in high school and I seem to remember enjoying the second one, even though it was kind of panned around release. Now I see a lot more appreciation for it online, and polarizing movies always interest me.

Are any of the Purge films streaming anywhere? Sad to say I haven't seen a signle one, but one night I'd like to do a Purge.... binge.

There's a good review of Hereditary at The Independent, and this stuck out to me:

"It understands, too, how the careful manipulation of tension can render the singular, largely unassuming image into a shot of pure terror: in the tradition of Mulholland Drive’s infamous diner scene, and its figure in wait around the corner, or The Shining’s interrupted man in a bear costume."

That scene in Mulholland Drive was one of the most terrifying things I've ever seen and messed me up for weeks. If this whole movie has that feel I may have to be carted out of the theater.

I swear... it's like the reviews and opinions know exactly what to say to excite and genuinely make me sorta scared to see this movie. I agree with you on the MH diner scene 100%. First time I saw that I was dozing off on a late night and I JOLTED out of bed when that happened.

So it's not a horror movie but it came up in r/horror - Population Zero. It's a mockumentary and I really enjoyed it. You guys might too.

I will 100% be watching this. I love those damn movies. Election Year is my fave but I love Elizabeth Mitchell (that deep, read the phone book love) and Frank Grillo so I'm biased.

I love the concept of the movies but I think I enjoyed the sequels more because their budget allowed to delve deeper. Being a Lost fan I was happy to see her starring in a movie. I’d probably end up seeing this anywhays.

Any fans of The Blob remake from the 80s? I’d seen this a bunch of times as a kid on tv but years later realized that it features Shawnee Smith, Johnny Drama, Candy Clark, and the guy whose body melted in Robocop. Also co-written by Frank Darabont.

Right there with The Fly and The Thing as one of the best horror remakes and one of the best horror movies from the 80s I think

I also love the Purge flicks. First wasn’t very good, but the second and third are a hell of a lot of fun. I’m actually disappointed Frank Grillo won’t be back though.

Also really looking forward to Hereditary which will hopefully make it three for three for good horror films I have seen from this year with A Quiet Place and Ghost Stories both being solid.

This isn't totally horror, but somebody showed me a video a while back under the assumption that it would make me laugh and it just... scared the shit out of me. I can understand why it's funny and sure, some things they say are humorous, but overall this creeps me the hell out and just generally makes me feel so, so uneasy. Anybody else get this?
