Hah, I also watched this for the first time last night. Ending threw me too. The bee scene was probably my favorite. I liked it overall

Yea I loved it when I saw it with little knowledge beforehand... based on the little I heard, I was expecting either a supernatural or vampire element to the villain. You should see Blue Ruin, same director... more of a thriller that’s a slow burn

I saw it about 11 years ago and yea that ending was crazy. Just the look on her face in the last shot

SC 2 and 3 is crazy bonkers. Stars Bruce Springsteen’s sister Pamela as Angela. She’s Patrick Bateman before Patrick Bateman existed.

  10. Holy shit. The Curse of Michael Meyers was absolutely batshit, but I kind of loved it? I mean, in one scene, Michael handed someone a towel before he killed them. It is an unequivocally bad movie, due in part to production issues, reshoots and poor editing -- there are several unresolved plotlines, the film ends abruptly, and I caught multiple instances of characters seemingly talking to themselves or the audience directly? -- but it was fun to watch, and not just in a bad movie way.

It is an artifact of 90s horror, and at that point, this franchise had become something much different than the first film, and in an almost self-aware way, this film embraces that. It gets points in my book for trying somethig different, even if it ultimately failed. The kills are awesome (particularly an exploding head bit) and as hammy as Paul Rudd is in his second film ever, it's endearing to watch an early performance from an actor you love now. Plus, he gets to beat the shit out of Michael at the end, which is definitely fun to watch.

i couldn't get past the part where she fell off a fuckin 30? 50? foot cliff and was impaled on a tree branch and then managed to light the tree on fire enough to break the branch but not actually burn her and all this time she was CLEARLY BLEEDING INTERNALLY and then that just stopped, no more blood out of her mouth
    otherwise, fun movie, ha

H20 was solid. Another artifact of 90s horror, lots of fun once Michael actually shows up, but a little slow to start (seems strange to hold off on the killing until the final third of an 85-minute movie, but then again, that's what the original did). The film re-used the "Michael is in the window" and "something that isn't Michael startling Laurie" bits ad nauseam, though. I'm a little disappointed considering some think it's the second best in the series when I'd consider it second to last (so far). Like, there's no doubt in my mind it's a better movie than The Curse of Michael Meyers, but I didn't have the same kind of fun watching it.

Onto Ressurection tonight, and then the Zombie remakes.

I can’t wait. Haven’t been able to find any reliable sources of how likely I am to be traumatized, so I’m just risking it. Planning to go opening night.

  20. Halloween Resurrection is a bad fucking movie lol. Fun in an early 2000s way, but there are so many recycled moments and kills...it's weird because, at times, they try to honor the legacy, but they also give Jamie Lee Curtis an incredibly unsatisfying death in the opening scene?? Unlikable characters, lazy writing and directing, and don't even get me starting on how dumb Michael is in this one. Just a plot that feels like it could have (and has since) been done better. When the highlight of your movie is Busta Rhymes fighting Michael Meyers with kung-fu, you've got a head-scratcher on your hands. First one in the series I'd recommend straight-up skipping.

I always felt like H20 happened in order to coast off of Scream's success and the tone (from what I remember) is very similar
